normally I'd say fuck semantics but you're wrong. The typewriter is obsolete, a landline isn't.

I dont get people who have long text message conversations, is it really that hard to dial someone's # and talk to them instead of texting like crazy?

faxing is still the only way to send a legal doc.... can't sign an email.
landline will work during an emg.... cell phone towers all get full.
film cameras won't go anywhere for some. less yes. gone no.
Dial Up Internet is still the only option in lots of rural citys.

ob⋅so⋅lete
–adjective 1. no longer in general use; fallen into disuse: an obsolete expression.
2. of a discarded or outmoded type; out of date: an obsolete battleship.
ur examples of typewriters, vinyl records fail because THEY ARE OBSOLETE, meaning they are no longer in general use
in the case of the examples from the link, a land line is not obsolete because majority of homes still have landlines, majority of companies have landlines, computers that uses ADSL as internet connection requires a landline etcetc
and as for the CDs, alot of people still uses them , be it inside their house listening to some music from the cd collection, or cars with mp3 players.

But sometimes when I take a dump and you don't really want to be talking on the phone, texting is the way to go. I guess it varies on different situations.

It's just a list from an article. Articles such as this should be obsoleted..........
Obsolete or not, I value some of those things. A letter sent through the mail is a lot more effective than some dumb ass e-mail. Even better if hand written.
I have embraced technology, but also value things that are............ too tired to think right now.

When people put forth the effort to make it mean more than the 50 emails they sent that day?
There's more to letter writing than sending a message.

Some of these things are becoming obsolete, but loses some of its values and meanings when replaced. Books are another example. It's gradually getting replaced, yet a lot of people still prefer having the physical print in their hands.

I feel outdated for preferring a smartphone with a tactile keypad instead of a touchscreen. I'd hate to still live in my old hometown and have to dial in to use the internet.

I'm looking forward to 3D TV holograms (Minority Report style) and electronics with wireless power supplies ( http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...ly_System/3549) in the next decade.

Right on! A good friend of mine sends me letters through the post office. She has beautiful cursive handwriting. When I receive them, I can imagine her sitting at her desk composing the letter. I can smell her letters. So special. So personal, so romantic. I have it all in a special box. PS my wife knows about her. She's just a dear old friend of ours. Yes, she is kind of hot (shhhh.........). And, no, I will not post pics. "Cause I don't need your guys' approval, LOL.
A freind last week sent me one of those electronic wish cards for Christmas. So tacky. So tasteless.
