email I guess? Scan and email something rather then faxing. Although faxing is still very very popular with offices so I wouldn't really put fax on the list of obsolete just yet but within this decade for sure it will be.

that article is fucked, alot of things mentioned in that article is not OBSOLETE.
probably half the population still has a land line phone, people who collect cds will continue to collect cds from their favorite singer.

-Calling
Email and text for mass communication, info and pics. For person to person interaction I prefer to use the phone or talk face to face

-CDs
I still burn music, pics and movies on occasion. Usually to give to friends.

-Landline Phones
Same as calling.

-Fax Machines
Still use for work.

-Wires
TV, home entertainment, car audio, tons of stuff. Wires won't be obsolete.

-Hand-written letters
I still, on the rare occasion, write letters to friend's, my GF, etc.. I'm not talking about far away friends either. It's more personal and heartfelt.

I barely use the things on the list or use it in a different form.
-Classifieds in Newspaper (craigslist)
-Dial Up Internet (obsolete)
-Encyclopedias (wikipedia)
-CDs (virtual iso's, dont really need to burn them to keep a copy now with so much hdd space, music = mp3s)
-Landline Phones (skype)
-Film and Film Cameras (dslr)
-Yellow Pages and Address Books (on the internet)
-Catalogs (what is this? lol.)
-Fax Machines (ive used it less then 10times in my lifetime so far. usually scan.)
-Wires (i think it will always be used)
-Hand-written letters (sometimes, but mostly emails.)

These ones are definitely obsolete:

-Dial Up Internet (dont think anyone uses this anymore)
-Yellow Pages and Address Books (only good for interrogations)
-Hand-written letters (type-writers replaced this long time ago)

Obsolete doesn't mean it's been replaced, just means something better is available.

I don't know about you guys, but I hate browsing for furniture stuff online. I'd much rather pick up an IKEA catologue, etc..

no. It means it's no longer in use and/or useless compared to newer technology.

Landlines are still used, and are still useful for many, including my family.

Obsolete actually means that it has been completely replaced.

If that's what it means then name something that's been "completely" replaced. Typewriters, vinyl records and 8 tracks are all obsolete but you can still get them, in fact you can still get them brand new. However something better is available.
