This is perhaps why we've spent so much on security detail.

I wholeheartedly support the right to protest, but the positions of some of the anti-2010 groups are ridiculous.

That means they would have to check MILLIONS of individuals just ensure that they have proper olympic branding/equipment. It is already crazy that they only allow VISA cards in venues and shops during the olypmics.

I'm an MC holder myself and while this is inconvenient, think about where we would be if we didn't have companies like Visa or Samsung putting up big money to sponsor the games.

I'm actually worried. I was up last night hanging out in the TV lounge with some other people and all I heard was negative things. Horror stories, people quitting left and right, people not getting their pay, etc.

It just seems like CSC & Vanoc has gotten so desperate they are hiring anyone who is 19+ and can walk, talk & read. Actually I don't even kno about the talk and read, we have people from all over its kind of insane.

As for the pay, the bus drivers who shuttle us back and forth from Vancouver-Whistler and around the Whistler area, were promised a full uniform. All they got was a jacket. No pants, no boots, etc like us. Also they weren't even asked to submit a void cheque for their direct deposit for payroll. Who knwos if they're going to get paid?

CSC started hiring back in the summer around August and has repeatedly said they are done hriing in November, but yet there are people here who were hired in December. The downstairs room @ Main & Terminal may say they're not hiring anymore, but that's just bullshit. You can come upstairs to the 3rd floor and they'll give you a 5 min interview. The girl I was talking to yesterday said that's how long her interview was! When I went for mine mid october, it was much longer and thorough.

Oh yea..I also heard that 500 people quit last Friday.

Worried much? Yea. If CSC does not live up to what they've said in regards to pay (16/hr + 2.5/hr bonus upon completion of all shifts) I think there will be a HUGE class action lawsuit come end of March. They've already deceived us by saying we would have nice accomodation. We live in fucking storage containers for fuck sakes.

^CSC is the same as Aeroguard. Well they are under the same CEO not sure it is a subsidy or what the deal is.

Yea I agree with you, we aren't true security. They emphasized this, said that we were "screening". We screen people coming in, but if shit truly goes down, we can't do anything, nor would we be trained to do so.

When I was hired, they said we would be getting 90 day BST licenses, and that it would be paid for. Found out from my friend who is taking security that to get a BST license in BC, you need to take a test. We took no such test!!

We don't have true security licenses, and the ones that we are given say that is' only effective under supervision, aka the Supervisors who have BST 1 and the RCMP who will be around. I think the ratio is 10:1 BST. What's funny about the supervisors is that they got the same training as SCREENERS, the people doing the wand and magnetometor (the walk through thing) and so they have no training on anything related to the X-Ray machines. There are things that ALWAYS have to be searched, such as pills, bottles, knives, nail clippers. Heard yesterday that one of the supervisors told them that ist okay just let it through. Uhhhhhh...............

So yea, this whole "security" thing is a joke, CSC is turning out to be a joke. Even the HR person I talked to today asking about my schedule (which I don't have yet) said that she's frustrated and she's resigning.

True true, i am just sad at the fact that the olympics is basically is (and always were) a large advertisement for companies, funded majority by our tax money.

Don't bother with phoning or emailing them, nothing gets done that way. Just head down to Terminal and ask in person. Don't leave until you get a print out of your schedule in your hand. I don't know how honest they are when they say they're backed up. I got my schedule after HR up here in Whistler phoned the head of the department and got me a schedule within 15 minutes.

I just knew someone from RS would be here, haha. I'm near 380~ in the Whistler building. Working WVL for a couple midnight shifts and then rotating through 12-8, 8-4 and 4-12 in PSA 3 till end of March.

Sure doesn't seem like it. There are a lot of people that I've seen who should not be in law enforcement or military. If they are, god help us all.

RCMP chartered the 3 cruise ships, but who they actually put on board is up to them, I guess.
