I'm more choked on how the OUTSIDE cauldron is surrounded by the most hideous fencing ever.

Seriously, WTF? Construction scaffolding and onlookers get to peep the thing at a good 200 metres away?

Too many security issues but I agree they could have made it look a bit better but the outside of BC place is pretty ugly anyways so I don't think they could have done much.

It was probably some guy crossing a pair of wires or something. The stupid thing is that they decided not to test the torch on Wednesday! That's why everything before that part went flawlessly.

You can blame the idiot protesters for that. The word going around is that they have plans to try and vandalize and put out the Olympic flame.

Let's having a little perspective, people. Instead of talking about the cauldron, what people should be talking about is our take on the anthem last night. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to something like the anthem and while Nikki poured her heart out, the arrangement was just wrong.

STFU GTFO

That's what this thread is worth.

If you feel embarrassed about that tiny glitch, I wonder how you feel about your own life.

if that was all it took to make you feel embarassed about being a Canadian, then I must say you're a pretty shitty Canadian. The borders that way, gtfo.

Amen, besides no one should be bashing Canadian made products or Chinese made products we all have proud achievements to fortify our technical prowess we have the Canadian arm and they built our railway connecting the east to the west.

I thought the standing ovation for the Georgian team was amazing. Probably my favourite part of the entire ceremony.

David Atkins directed the Sydney ceremony and Vancouver ceremony.

In BOTH ceremonies the cauldron failed to work properly.

0/2 for Atkins.

Why lie when in fact it was the truth, plus it wasn't anything that major and can be shrugged off easily. I rather be told the truth than lie, then people won't call us liars and such.
