| Canadian Made POC FAILED at the most important moment of Canadian History
is it just me ....or do u also feel embarrass being a Canadian after the failure happening during the opening of the 2010 winter Olympics, when one of the hydraulic fail to pump oil into the cylinder that controls the up and down motion of the totem poll, the result of that is ONLY 3 totum poll raised up and one didn't.....
a historic moment ruined by some Canadian Made product in front of the whole world

in all honesty, it wasnt THAT big of a probem overall, the majority of the important parts of the torch eventially came up. it was just a short delay. one arm of the thing not working isnt nearly as bad as say, the lights went out, or any of that fancy rigging, or video display broke.
at the end of the day, the torch is burning, and nothing was harmed other than a short delay. i was more upset with the canadian flag getting tangled in the rope and not flying properly.
that being said, i think its fucking ugly, but thats beside the point

I was there, i didnt even know anything had gone wrong.
someone will win a gold and no one will remember what happened, it's hardly the "most important time in canadian history" let alone the most important part of the games

Not that important in the grand scheme of things, but it is the culmination of the opening ceremonies...

yeah, someone needs to get gang-beaten for that 'technical error'.

Y'know, after all the secrecy and speculation over the final torchbearer, I thought the way it was done, was damn near perfect... and that alone more than makes up for the minor technical glitches. After all, the Olympics are, ultimately, about the athletes... not the presentation, not the technology, but the people.
And good job on the Olympic flag bearers, too - was great to see Anne Murray taking part!

considering they didnt test them during the dress rehearsals makes me wonder if they were tested at all right before the ceremony?

Funny thing is during the beijing olympics i was thinking something is going to fail, forgoting, it's China on a national stage here, no matter how unreliable things are, in such an event the government would MAKE SURE nothing failed. if something were to fail, whoever is responsible would be probably killed before it ever got a chance to fail. Canada on the other hand, like someone said, probably went on coffee break and trusted everything into 'insurance' haha. Really disappointing. 10 secs into it when the 4 torch bearers were just standing there, i think to myself uh oh, maybe something malfunctioned. Then i saw that cut scene of nancy greene's face and knew something did fuk up haha.

all 5 torch bearers just standing there waiting for the cauldron to rise up was painful to watch on TV. i was laughing when only 4 came up since i knew these ceremonies is going to be remembered for that and a little something that happened earlier.
