THE SANDWICH NAZI!

La Chacuterie

The Sandwich Nazi cannot be described; he must be experienced!

And besides the experience, there's the $7.50, 4lb (or more) sandwiches...

Seriously, we've disassembled these things and made four more sandwiches from them.

RunningFree 03-03-2010 07:44 AM

Ohhh that's in Port Kells right?

Didn't he have another location in Burnaby on Boundary and Kingsway? I believe it closed a little while back.

Soundy 03-03-2010 07:46 AM

Port Kells, yup. Dunno about former locations, I have a friend that's been traveling from Burnaby, South Van and downtown to Port Kells for years for these sandwiches. We just finally went there for the first time a month or so ago.

I wish there was a soup Nazi like the one from Seinfeld...

Liquid_o2 03-03-2010 10:46 AM

Yah I haven't gone to his store in Port Kells in years but they are really really good. Quality of meats is excellent. I will have to make it out there sometime soon again.

Salam kinda has the same act (hence the "Sandwich Nazi" name), but not as nasty. VERY crude, but also very funny.

Excellent quality too, but the quantity is what's really amazing.

One guy came in, just asked for "$20 in meat, $25 in cheese" and left with two HUGE platters - you'd be lucky to get half of that at any regular deli.

to tell you the truth there was one that was beside telus building. thsi must have been at least a good 4 years ago.

mr. campbell sandwich
ndp sandwich
reform sandwich, it was named after all the political parties. (someone help me out on this).

the size of hte sandwich was huge and seriously, the quantity was just ridiculous.

i think this might be the same one?

bcrdukes 03-03-2010 11:12 AM

Judging by the bread, condiments and deli meats being used, I think it's the same one.

speaking of soup nazi, where's a good place to get a bowl of soup for a good value? i prefer clear soups rather than creamy ones.

CRS 03-03-2010 12:24 PM

Damn... this is such a drive... hahaha

WHY CAN'T IT BE CLOSER!

TekDragon 03-03-2010 01:12 PM

Just got back from lunch there. Couldn't finish both parts of the sandwich. Just amazing though. He was picking on me for being a minority (halfer) and was happy to see me take it in good stride.

Soundy 03-03-2010 02:08 PM

He likes it better if you zing him back :)

Couple months ago, he was donating a dollar from every sandwich, and all his tips, for Haiti relief. Had a special jar for it on the counter. Beside it was another tip jar, with a picture of him in a bikini and a caption to the effect of "Salam's hair removal fund" (and to say this man is hirsute is an understatement - he IS Lebanese, after all). I put my money for my sandwiches on the counter... he said to take my change from someone else's money laying there... I told him I'd put all my change in the Haiti jar if he got rid of that picture. Hahahah, he just stopped dead in his tracks, looked at me completely shocked for a second... then laughed :)

A $7 sandwich with $20 worth of meat and cheese... I'd say it's WORTH the drive! Even better than a Jonker deal!

art-gallery 03-03-2010 03:54 PM

looks so good, im down to go that far

TekDragon 03-03-2010 04:17 PM

Just a plug for this guy: Friday March 5, he's holding a earthquake relief fund for Chille. He'll donate a dollar for every sandwich that's bought Friday.

RunningFree 03-03-2010 05:17 PM

The place in Burnaby had the same name and was possibly owned by him. I don't have a definite answer.

Salam's a funny guy... he was on the Fox radio station from time to time if I remember correctly.

Yes the sandwiches are freaking monstrous... I couldn't eat more than half at a time. I ate the rest for dinner haha.

TOS'd 03-03-2010 05:46 PM

Wtffff so far away!

I must make it out there one day, I need an excuse to travel that far lol
