Just wanted to let you know, if I ever message one of you about something you have listed in buy and sell, you can't trust me. Being a young native person, I will do my very best to fuck you over and pass along counterfeit currency to fund my alcohol addiction.

Maybe I'm on crack but having felt the texture of legit vs. fake bill, it should be pretty obvious when someone is handing you fakes instead of legit bills.

There are seldom any high quality fakes and most use pretty crappy/poor quality paper. You should be able to instantly tell that it isn't real.

a good UV light will show numbers on the bills. EG: a $20 bill has "20" printed all over it and will shine brightly in different colors under a black light.

Crappy keychain ones don't work.





when you reply to people buying from you, make sure just to say,

"I will be bringing a UV light to inspect the bills for both our protection. Sorry for the inconvenience"

And as for asian people really can't drive...

Sorry to sound racist. But from my point of view, native stereotypes tend to represent a larger percentage, as compared to other stereotypes and their respective races. Up to this day i have not seen natives that got their shit going normally, most / all of them i see are collecting welfare cheques, look ghetto, and are under the influence of something. That may not mean they'd try to rip u off, but from my experiences, thats how they are.

I applaud mindbomber for sticking up for his race and being an accomplished native

Firstly, Asian people are not stereotyped and discriminated against by racist bigots like Hondaracer, based on the assumption that they are poor drivers, so the comparison is in no way equal. Asian people can't drive seems much more like harmless teasing, but I can't comment beyond that. I will say, I have a few Asian friends and wouldn't consider any of them bad drivers.

Statistically, natives and indigenous people from around the world have significantly higher rates of addiction than people who descend from cultures who have traditionally consumed alcohol. The bodies of native people simply are not equipped to handle alcohol, because we've been consuming it as a people for a shorter period of time than European cultures, for example. In the case of Canadian native people, you also need to consider that many elders turned to alcohol and drugs as a direct result of their experiences in residential schools. It's convention that people subject to abuse as children are significantly more likely to become addicts in the future, and you cannot blame an adult for what they've experienced as a child. Breaking the cycle of addiction, regardless of race, often takes generations. Band councils are actively involved with helping to break that cycle, which is why many reservations are dry. Statistically, natives have higher rates of addiction, but that's as a result of circumstances beyond our control and we need time to heal as a people.

That said, the statistical percentage of native alcoholics is still not 100%, like the racist bigot dizzystar seems to believe. I have many native friends, more than ten, and of them one is a hopeless drunk and one struggles with alcohol but leads a very productive life and has a good career.

I think that's a compliment..

In my experience, if you have a racist perception of a people then you are more likely to notice the flaws than the positives. If I consciously decided that members of the Indo-Canadian community are all dirty berry pickers who moonlight as cab drivers and wear turbans, I probably would be more attuned to noticing the those stereotypes. Try not focusing on the challenges my people struggle with and you'll probably not notice them as frequently, giving you a more accurate perception.

I just sold my black berry playbook on CL for 380 bucks. I met up with the young guy, he was about 22 years old if that, tall white guy, dressed nice. He gave me one $100 bill two $50's and the rest in $20's. I was able to go to the back finally two days after the transaction, I get there, every single one of the bills are counterfit bills. I call the VPD non emergancy line, the lady didnt even bother to write a report for me, she said there wasnt a point in writting one because if they did catch the guy they could not prove that he know they where all fake, even though I had all the texts we shared and still have his phone number.

Also, asians aren't so much discriminated against here in the lower mainland, there are just too many of us that the common culture has changed.

I know this is a very subtle point, but I think it helps to illustrate how much things have changed in the past 20 years.

The attitude towards asians change once you leave the lower mainland. Not to say that the native population hasn't be unfairly treated. I'm not trying to gloss over that in any way shape or form. But I think the biggotry against asians is a bit more irrational. More of a fear of the different. I have a hard time coming up with a reason to hate on the asians. Whereas the natives across Canada and America have been granted lots of exemptions for wildlife, game, casinos and such. It's not fair, but at least some might look at it and say, it's unjust. Or rather, the biggotry cancels out with these perks.

I understand your perspective on the issue, partly because outside the lower mainland racism against natives becomes much worse as well. Not to look down on the interior, but people living in those regions have a very different way of thinking. Even my family in the interior would agree, not only is daily life much slower, but the evolution of culture and way people think progresses much more slowly.

I'd be happy to discuss the perks natives receive with you, because they really don't cancel out the bigotry.

Native people are granted exemptions in hunting and fishing, but there's a very specific reason for that. It's to help us maintain an integral part of our culture, sure some people inevitably take advantage it, but largely hunting and fishing is largely only done for sustenance. It's very different from the disgusting practice of trophy hunting.

Self-governance allows native people to build casinos, bill boards, lease land to the government for use as highways and such, true. The potential for income generation isn't the reason why native people have the ability to self-govern however, it's just a by-product for a select few bands. If a reserve isn't strategically located somewhere that makes the land unusually valuable, that potential doesn't exist. It's luck of the draw, if a population centre developed on your peoples' ancestral lands or an mining company found diamonds you get some extra cash.

I would trade every advantage given to me by the government, with the exception of those meant to preserve my culture, to not experience bigotry.

What if a person really was a victim and didn't know and ended up spending the money?
If someone got tricked in the first place by the initial touch/sight of the bill, good chances are he/she might not even notice later on.
Not everyone goes back home and examines their bills after it's in their wallet.
