IIRC, if your laptop was made in either US/CAN/ Mexico, then no duty.

If it's made elsewhere, then yes there is duty.

Even if it was made in North America with no duties via NAFTA, you would still have to pay canadian taxes on top of the american taxes you paid to begin with.

Hmm... I'm assuming the parts are made overseas but put together in the States? Does that make a difference?

Considering the savings on this deal and the dollar almost at par, it would still be worth buying IMO no?

50% off the US MSRP will still be cheaper even if you have to pay duties.

You might as well buy it.

Depends on how cheap the sale is to begin with, I don't know how much that particular laptop goes for in Canada, so its your call. And I am pretty sure dell laptops are assembled in China.

So you save 50%, but pay 25% taxes on what you save.. :S

Not a bad deal if you're in need of one, but if you already have a fine working laptop, I'd pass.

So much bad information in the thread.

There shouldn't be any duty on laptops, regardless of where it's made.

There WILL be your standard GST and PST though.

thats really expensive for a mediocre laptop, even at 50% off. I'd rather pay a few hundred more and get an Asus UL series from ncix.

There will be tax if ordering from Dell. Any company that has a presence in the State that it's being shipped to will charge sales tax.
