here is the thing.

the lawyer will handle anything pertaining to personal injuries. im not concerned with the money, or whatever, thats the lawyers concern, mine is i want to be ship shape like i was before this crap happened!

which leaves the car, christina, which the lawyers said straight out, they will not handle that portion, that is purely me. which is what im afraid of. im trying to educate myself best i can.

Inaii 03-27-2010 09:12 PM

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that :( I thought they took care of everything. I'm sure there's lots of people on here that could lend a hand though :) After all, you're our fearless leader :D

Dinan3 03-27-2010 09:12 PM

Wow I'm glad you're ok! Get well soon, good luck with ICBC and hope to see you back at work soon.

AVS_Racing 03-27-2010 09:15 PM

how come the lawyers aren't handling the portion about the car? your paying them aren't u?

Inaii 03-27-2010 09:19 PM

They might be personal injury lawyers only.

boss604 03-27-2010 09:25 PM

Goodluck !

bring it to DTP as is.

100x more unique than a car with TV screens , decals , body kits and stickers.

!Tigger 03-27-2010 10:13 PM

^WTf?

anyways. get well!!!

bengy 03-27-2010 10:21 PM

Hope you have receipts

lawyers only deal with personal injuries. If icbc writes it off I'm guessing they're going to offer you $7-8gs. Start gathering info on similiar cars to show them how much they're really worth.

maxxxboost 03-27-2010 10:52 PM

Jesus.
Get better. Cars are replaceable.

probably wont be too high, the milleage, and US import

shenmecar 03-28-2010 12:02 AM

SG, If you bring up enough for sale ads of similar GS300s, ICBC will give you a reasonable amount back.

My uncle's car was involved in a hit and run and was totaled, I spent an afternoon searching what a similar car goes for on CL and other classifieds site, and what he got back was actually more than what he paid for. (his car was transferred to him as a gift from the previous owner)

AVS_Racing 03-28-2010 12:11 AM

last time i heard icbc doesn't care about US import or not they give u the local value

TomBox_N 03-28-2010 12:24 AM

Well, hope u get better soon. Doesn't icbc have a black book or something that has the value of allthe differnt cars.Wouldn't they just give u wut is in that book?

TOS'd 03-28-2010 12:41 AM

They do have a black book type thing, but they also do check out current used car ads for the exact or similar car and with those prices, along with the book, they determine the value of the car. I know this because I know someone who is an adjuster.

drunkrussian 03-28-2010 11:46 AM

glad ur ok man.

As for the appraisal: My old boss had a rare crossfire with all-AMG insides. When he crashed it and it was a write-off, they completely lowballed him, but he fought and got similar cars and what they were going for and got a much better re-appraisal after that. So my advice is: when they appraise your car and lowball you, don't give up. Fight fight fight until you get a much better price! Pull out all the tricks! And if not, at least you tried...

wish you a speedy recovery

dinamix 03-28-2010 01:10 PM

good to hear your ok...sorry to hear bout your christina..

so my parents wanted to see the car today, we drove out to the icbc lot where my car was, and i use the oppurtunity to put back some stock items i removed.

i took a picture of the interior.

http://www3.telus.net/SorrGwa/Accident/DSC01865.JPG

door pushed in against the seat, and shifted my whole dash to one side. the center console is completely screwed as well, but because its a side impact, icbc will be able to salvage the airbags.

the adjuster that was there pretty much said its a write off =~(

i put back my stock deck and a few other stock items for now.

get a seperate lawyer for that, if you think the difference between what you would get by yourself, and with a lawyer... my lawyer's taking care of both things for me... got at least 5 lawsutis with ICBC atm anyways...

They give you the value to REPLACE it. Therefore, it's like... if you had to buy an R32 here, as opposed to an R32 in Japan... they'd give you whatever insane GTR fanboy price it's paid for here...

skyxx 03-28-2010 01:52 PM

from the looks of it. Your wheels look fine. Take those!

!SG 03-28-2010 02:05 PM

3 of my 4 wheels are fine, 1 is dented and not fixable, well it is, but the cost to have it rechromed, straightened, which cant be done locally, will cost more than buying a new wheel.

If you want blackbook values go to toyota.ca, and price out a car. When it asks you if you are trading in, say yes and then there should be a button that says appraise my trade in. Actual value of the car should be about +5-10% of the high book value if everything is in good shape. Or you could just google toyota and black book. I always use it when looking to buy used cars

skyxx 03-28-2010 02:19 PM

Toyota's "Blackbook" value will be "wholesale" price.
