i took a picture of the interior.

http://www3.telus.net/SorrGwa/Accident/DSC01865.JPG

door pushed in against the seat, and shifted my whole dash to one side. the center console is completely screwed as well, but because its a side impact, icbc will be able to salvage the airbags.

the adjuster that was there pretty much said its a write off =~(

i put back my stock deck and a few other stock items for now.

ICBC actually sent out a memo last week... no more recycled SRS components from any car - year make or model.

The want to avoid any possibilities of future legal issues of putting in recycled airbags in cars should they ever not deploy and result in injury or death from impact.

Unfortunately, it's going to be a long road. My accident was over 4 years ago, and my back still bothers me. Settling with ICBC also took 4 years, even though I was not at fault.

Meowjin 03-30-2010 02:13 AM

i just sued icbc. I'm probably goign to go to discovery.

EmOne 03-30-2010 02:50 AM

They are usually pretty fair. The only people that gets shafted are the ones with a lot of mods.
They gave me way more for my soarer than what I originally paid.

Marco911 03-30-2010 06:49 AM

^^The only cases where ICBC actually help if you drive a car that is in shittier condition than average. In EmOne's case, they offered market value for an avg. condition car and he came out ahead. Since Christina appears to be in great condition, you need to show to them, why you feel you need to get an above average value for your car. You need to be realistic. They don't give a shit about the mods you've done, so you should replace all the resaleable parts you can salvage off with OEM parts while the car still belongs to you. If you can find another GS300/400 that you want to replace it with, you can also point it out to them and show them how much it will cost you to replace your car. Personally, I would go for something else other than a GS, like an E-class.

Not if he wants a reliable daily driver he doesn't.

Strzelec 03-30-2010 09:34 AM

Real sad to hear that things gonna be a write off, but after the damage that thing had to it, i probably wouldnt trust its integrity in another impact, especially if its a big one. Cant wait to see what you will do with the next car

Illegal as they may be, tints on the front windows would have prevented flying shards of glass. I'm not saying everyone get their windows tinted, but just pointing out that something that's against the law here in BC may also prevent injuries such as the ones you described.

Get well soon.

bloodmack 03-30-2010 10:05 AM

Well, that looks like a write off, do you have all your reciepts and what not for the work done to the car? If so you should get it back + what is claimed for the cars worth.
But, on the bright side, your still alive and now you have a chance to get a new car and improve upon it further.

marc0, it depends on the quality of the tint as well.

xpl0sive 03-30-2010 10:10 AM

that looks like my accident, I just settled with them on the car last week. Happened begining of February. I got t-boned on the driver side by some chinese guy not paying attention and running a stop sign.
I had all my windows tinted, which saved my eyes and face from getting all cut up. the cops that showed up even commented that it was a GOOD thing i had my windows tinted and didnt hassle me for it.
ICBC screwed me over on a few things on the car, but my lawyer faught for me. First of all, one of my rims was damaged as well, and that made the whole set worthless, since they were custom powdercoated. ICBC said that my car came with wheels that were originally $600/piece, and my aftermarket wheels are worth about that, so I'm not losing anything on that. Also, i had the timing belt service done on my car 2 weeks before the accident. Had a receipt for $1300 i sent them. They called it regular maintenance and told me to go away.... So i'm going after them for all the injuries I have and not going to settle till the last drop. I'm hoping to recover the money I lost from them lowballing me...

in this picture you can actually see that both the front window and the back window stayed completely intact from the tint... I knocked the front window out with my head which gave me a pretty good concussion...

When I wrote off my CDN spec MR2 back in 2004, I managed to squeeze $16k from ICBC. They'll always try to lowball you at first, my first offer was $3k. I took that $16k and bought a US spec from California for $7k. 6 months ago, I was rear ended, about $5k worth of damage, I thought it was a write off and with that much damage, I was hoping it was. ICBC wouldn't budge and fixed it because they said it was worth $10k so it wasn't enough for a write off. Now I'm stuck with a POS that looks fine but runs like crap.

ICBC does give you fair value for imported cars.

ate.ge 03-30-2010 03:58 PM

@xpl0sive you okay now?
@!SG get well soon.. by the way things look, your new gs will look pretty much like Christina right?
