twitchyzero 03-31-2010 10:05 PM

if you dont have a meter high wing this could've possibly been avoided

Wing or no wing, could of gotten me regardless since it was a road block, they pulled over sketchy cargo vans too and motorcycles.

Zyzz 03-31-2010 10:08 PM

wow shit.... sorry to hear that... getting car towed out while on the street sucks like shit...

but my last 3 or 4 encounters with the cops, (some in richmond), they all let me go with just a verbal warning .... its like a miracle or my good looks

falcon 03-31-2010 10:11 PM

truth.

underscore 03-31-2010 10:11 PM

if all that you got it being too low then just take off the lip and sideskirts. or borrow some bigger rims with smaller sidewalls.

cococly 03-31-2010 10:14 PM

My friend's STi was once pulled over by the Richmond RCMP for "shooting flames" at the exhaust. lol

His car has FMIC,giant wing, lowering springs,etc..

His car didn't get towed at the spot though.

Does it depend on the personal mood of the officer?

13spoons 03-31-2010 10:20 PM

that sucks
i use 5 rd most days

Well I had low offset rims, which made it unsafe according to the cop, even if I rolled my fenders and running the proper camber for it.

He keeps claiming that these wheels rubbed the inner side of the fender when I kept insisting it was from a different set of rims.

mj_39 03-31-2010 10:29 PM

wow man that sux!!

but box 1? tow for being low? isn't that a little much?

the more i hear about these VI stories from everyone, im starting to feel that they are being given out by the Richmond RCMP just because they can! Almost to the point as they are going out of there way to tag anyone/everyone with any sort of mods legal/illegal.

I was actually given a vi from the Richmond RCMP

08 g35 sedan
-no illegal mods lowered only 1.4 inches
-over 7inches ground clearance

went threw a inspection as is didnt change a thing passed no problems

the whole situation didn't make any sense to me? seems like they are going to far in some circumstances!

Goodluck man!

turb0fr3ak 03-31-2010 10:36 PM

its a cash grab for the gov

TOS'd 03-31-2010 10:38 PM

Fuck man that sucks.

Seems like a lot of ppl are saying they have been given warnings, tickets, VIs, etc for being any little mod. Seriously stupid.

And for wheel rubbing sidewall? wtff looks like any car with mods should stay out of Richmond nowadays.

Wow that's absolute garbage you getting VI'd on your G35.

I'll see what happens later. Since I'm running koni Yellows, gonna put it up a notch, put on stock wheels, and stock steering wheel.

don't get me wrong, some cars DESERVE VI's its a valid offense/ticket

I respect what the rcmp/vpd have to do on a daily bases because there job is far from easy!

but yes im with you on that, seems like its becoming more of a cash grab!

icemiko 03-31-2010 10:53 PM

I drove by Williams and No.5 Road yesterday, guess I was lucky.

LiquidTurbo 03-31-2010 10:54 PM

You got in trouble for being too low? So are you ordered to return to stock height and then get an inspection?

Would of been nice if it was on a flat bed, but I was stuck with this, and attached to it was bullshit fees (additional dolleys, fuel surcharge) with regular tow trucks.

All for 150 bucks just to move it up a few blocks.

I was told to raise it up an inch.

On top of that he told me to bring it to Honda for a vehicle inspection. So do I really have to bring it there? Cause I have a feeling they're gonna rape my wallet pretty bad.

i had the same issue, if i were you i'd get down to researching, to see what is the legal height for a car is. If your car meets the required standards, then you shouldn't have gotten a VI in the first place, they were looking around for something wrong with the car. You could then bring your ticket/VI paperwork to the station and dispute it.

I had the same issue, and i didn't bring it to the Honda dealership, cause their rates are BS compared to other VI inspection places. IMO the police officer can only tell you to get ur car inspected, not direct you to a certain dealership. Thats just plain BS

J-Chow 03-31-2010 11:12 PM

wow dude, that sucks balls.

But that's Richmond RCMP for ya. They're the most anal on car mods in the lower mainland. Literally have nothing to do except perform quick cash grab schemes.

Well ur friends car was vied for being loud and shootin flame that's y it didn't get towed. The ops car was "too low" thus its a safety hazard to be on the road thus it "needs" to be off the road right away

underscore 03-31-2010 11:19 PM

Flames aren't a hazard?

Inaii 03-31-2010 11:22 PM

Pretty sure the legal height requirement is in the police forum. Sucks though :( such a nice car (minus the wing :p lol), only del sol I don't mind.

Damn..I thought this VI phase was over many years ago.

PS: Flatbed trucks usually charge more, and in most cases, a flat bed is even harder for a lowered car to get up on to. The ramp is steep, and the winch pulling your car up will most likely damage your bumper. Dollies are the way to go.
