I guess I should be glad that the RCMP blocked off William and Blundell around 5:30pm when I was on my way home. Otherwise, I might get into the same shit.

I'm sorry to hear about this as well. Hopefully, this won't damage your wallet much.

All for 150 bucks just to move it up a few blocks.

I am a BCAA member, could I call them up for a "free" towing under the same circumstances?

BEEB 03-31-2010 11:35 PM

I hope they will VI all these jacked up 4x4 or raised pickup that's a hazard to the public safety.

I am a bcaa member also, but the cop already called a tow truck on the spot.

Plus my car isn't legal now since it has no plates.

the cop was a dick

this is what i would have said:
"Do you know Parm? I work for him...now let me go."

dachinesedude 03-31-2010 11:50 PM

loud cans and high wings attract the most heat from the cops

solution? lose them, or pay to play

I've used BCAA for cars with no plates plenty of times

tofu1413 03-31-2010 11:58 PM

Definitely sounds like the cop was a dick.

XtC-604 04-01-2010 12:14 AM

Well my wing and my exhaust wasn't the legal issue. It was the ride height.

in this case, currected.

hk20000 04-01-2010 01:05 AM

from the pics your front lip and skirt seems to actually be lower than the sidewall of the tires.

on that point alone I think he has reasonable grounds to believe you are below min rideheight (which is defined by no part of the car's body should hit the ground in case of a tire blow out)

But that's Richmond RCMP for ya. They're the most anal on car mods in the lower mainland. Literally have nothing to do except perform quick cash grab schemes.

Luckily for me, the cops that I've encountered in Richmond while driving my own car weren't as anal. Some cop even jokingly asked if my wing was functional and if it was for aerodynamics and stuff.

tofu1413 04-01-2010 01:57 AM

^ could be worse. they might ask you if you go fast enough for it to function regularly, resulting the installation of the said wing.

I had my fair share of nice cops too in Richmond, until I encountered this one:mad:

this brown cop is bein a bully, and say's he's a "SPECIALIST?"

A "Specialist bully". Considering you weren't speeding or anything. THey just had nothin BETTER to do.

Any peace officers reading my post ask yourself this next time you decide to be a prick.

"Do you feel good about yourself after ruining somebodies day?"
"Could I have been less of a DOUCHE-asshole?"
"DID I make the police force look good today?"
"Did I really have to tow this car?"
"Did I catch any REAL criminals lately? or is this the best I can do?"

HE CLEARLY SAID ROADBLOCK.

tofu1413 04-01-2010 03:54 AM

Recoil has a point.

some cops at roadblocks are quite chill, they just let you go with a verbal warning.

and yes, there are always a prick out there somewhere. it happens.

I remember back when the S2000's first came out and people were getting VI's for stock cars. I would imagine that it really depends on the cop's mood which is sad. There is very little you can do if a cop pulls your car off the road even for no reason. Is it worth suing the crown? Unfair for sure but not likely to trigger any serious repercussions unless it was being done on a large scale.

That's exactly what I thought too. If he were to ask, I was gonna tell him that it's a new design and it's functional when I hit 50km/h LOL :lol.
But yeah the cop that I encountered at that time was really chill... didn't say anything about my wing being to wide, my exhaust being too loud, or having front window tint.

fsy82 04-01-2010 09:00 AM

The only times Ive ever gotten VI's was in richmond. Now i just keep away from that area. I have no problems in Surrey, Burnaby or Vancity. My car isnt even heavily modded.

spoon.ek9 04-01-2010 09:13 AM

sorry to hear this happened to you! i really don't know what it is with the richmond rcmp sometimes. i've only had problems in this city with my EK, VPD doesn't seem to mind as long as you don't drive like a douchebag.

i've been lucky so far, only verbal warnings. i may not be so lucky with my EF though..
