| What's a good watch for around $100-150?
My requirements:
-used outdoors in sports, hiking, traveling
-waterproof
-gadgets would be nice (i.e. compass, temperature, etc.)

timex?
timex.ca ... check out the "outdoors" section. http://www.timex.ca/EXPEDITION-WS4-S...25C75.aspx?l=e
edit: yes, this is over your budget but they have other cheaper watches on their site with less functions. besides, it's TIMEX, "they take a lickin' and keep on tickin'!"

5 replies and nobody has said G-Shock? WOW.
Get a Riseman
Altimeter, thermometer, barometer, everything you need (and don't need ) from a watch

Thanks...the Riseman looks like a good suggestion.
The WS4 is a little too big unfortunately.

If you need a compass, you can look at Casio ProTrek too. They are basically a variation on the G-Shock. They are usually quite big though, but not as fugly as that Timex up there

with the Canadian dollar so good right now you should go to the states to check them out. Maybe shop around here and buy the one you want off ebay for cheaper?

A RiseMan will be about $150-200, depending on model.

-gadgets would be nice (i.e. compass, temperature, etc.) | A basic Timex Iron Man watch suits your needs and those are only $25-$80. I had the most basic one while travelling around in Asia.. it just kicked ass. If you're going to be hiking/travelling, it'll get banged up anyway.
How often would you really need compass/temp gauge? It sounds useful on paper, but I think in day to day life it's unnecessary and you'd be dragging lost of unnecessary weight around.
It's kinda like those calculator watches.
Save the money for a fancier watch for other occasions!

Definitely go for a G-Shock, those things are tough as hell. Got one while I was a kid, took it off in school and placed it in the pocket, housekeeper threw it in the washing machine, thing actually survived the wash without a scratch. Thing is still working today (bout 15+ years old).
