Don't want to get your hopes up, but they spend money for you to have your medical. They typically won't send you if they don't want you as a potential candidate. Not saying you're a shoe in, but you've made it this far. :)

I think it was two months for me to hear back. I think your wait time should be shorter though.

^ The start date for the class is September 13th. I'm very sure they are still going through medical checkups for everyone. Hopefully by the end of this week they will start calling. I'm anxious too but try and not think too much of it. :)

no_limit187 08-27-2010 08:32 PM

6o4allmotor 08-27-2010 08:35 PM

I went for the piss test on monday got the call this after noon saying sept 13 about the class and about the job ect money ect

skyxx 08-27-2010 10:57 PM

I didn't get the call yet. I emailed HR about my status. Hopefully I get a reply. I passed the health examination too. To all those that didn't get a call, just give it another week. They might just be going through the list of candidates to call. We're all anxious. :D Good luck to everyone.

skyxx 08-30-2010 07:28 PM

Has anyone gotten a call from CN today? I haven't gotten a call yet. I guess I'm out of the pool of candidates. I tried emailing HR but no dice. Anyone happen to have CN HR's number?

Check the website, see where you are. Under Careers => Search and Apply for Jobs => Check Application Status.

It's still saying "Under review". I passed everything and I'm just questioning my placement since class is starting September 13th.

terkan 08-30-2010 10:38 PM

well there's still plenty of time.. most jobs i had that had a training class usually don't call til like 1 week before class starts

skyxx 08-30-2010 10:46 PM

TekDragon 09-02-2010 09:12 PM

Still tells me that I'm in a pool, and I've been working here for the last 6 months!

skyxx 09-02-2010 09:25 PM

^ Lol so unreliable. I'm having double thoughts that I inputted the wrong phone number but of course I know I wrote it properly. I'm annoyed. lol Oh well, hopefully my database is in their system and just wish I'm up for the next pool of candidates. :/

The work is good, the guys you work with are usually great. The usual politics and bs, but that's relatively minor compared to the rest of it. Training wage is decent, and the pay is quite good once you get out there. Like the work so far. The big thing I'm having a hard time getting used to is the 24/7 on call part. You get rest between, and you can book days off, but it's definitely a lifestyle change.

6o4allmotor 09-03-2010 05:30 PM

Anyone outta your class quit the job after realizing the hours?

Conductors switch rail cars, make or split up trains in yards, move cars between yards, sidings or tracks (often using a remote control device called a belt pack), according to instructions originating with yard and train planners. This requires good communication skills involving specific hand signals or radio to facilitate the safe movement of engines and cars. They work on-call with irregular hours, weekends and holidays.

Locomotive Engineers operate diesel-electric locomotives, rail diesel cars, interpret train orders, timetables, train signals, and railway rules and regulations to transport freight in a safe and efficient manner. Locomotive Engineers are promoted from position of Conductor.
