If a war happens, whatever. After the war ends, time to buy some prime real estate in destroyed pyongyang and seoul. Long term wise, imagine the strength of the Korean economy after it is united.
remember kids, always an opportunity to be made in a tragedy!
China would never be for a war. They need the buffer nk provides right now. Nothing will change...nk and sk will always be divided. The only one who wants the unification would be the usa...to be on china's doorstep.
I don't think NK/SK will stay divided forever. I mean, the very similar thought was in place a couple of decade before when wall of Berlin was still up. East and West Germany would never unify. Look what happened at the end. The East was so bad economically, they basically gave up. The brain drain on the West side was too much to encounter.
Now NK ppl are not given the chance. But imagine if a war (despite any scale) happens and SK began to absorb North Korean, it won't take long before North Korea gives up. All the "our great leader" talk is propaganda to the western world. One of my best friend, a SKorean with family in NK says people in NK are loyal to the leadership, but only to certain extend.
NK already screwed their people recently with the intro of new bills. If SK begins to welcome NKorean to come, you will see a lot of NKorean rush to the 38th parallel. I mean, at least people who are almost starving to death will move.
What people in nk??? You guys don't get it. There are NO people in nk!!! It's just KJI! Like a lonely Cartman, he's sitting there playing by himself! All the people in nk are actually maniquins rigged with bombs!
If sk or usa invade...and "free" the nks...they're all going to go off and kji wins!
Everyone knows this. Hell, the whole dmz is just a sham too! Nk is the tree fort, sk is the ground, and the dmz is the 15ft in between! Posted via RS Mobile
It doesnt gain SK/NK anything whatsoever to go to war with each other. But everything to gain for the US, especially in acquiring one of the most strategic military zones for them. I just hope SK doesnt fall for the torpedo setup. (chances are they probably will succumb to the pressure) WW3.. really?
I may be mistaken on this, but doesn't North Korea have a ton of artillery pieces right on their side of the DMZ? That would be enough of a deterrant to stop South Korea from attacking, as they may fear that NK would level Seoul and other cities in range of their artillery.
There have been numerous incidents over the years, this one will blow over like all the rest have.

"When there's blood on the streets, buy property" - inside man

Not really. In the past, NK has simply been acting like a retarded child bargaining for what it wants - food, aid, starcraft leaks/hacks. And almost each and every time they've gotten it. Except for when SK joined the war games last year. Neither the usa nor sk backed down.
This time it's different since NK's actions are a reaction to what they say is a set up.

south korean economy will go to shits (it's already bad enough) and south korea has too much to lose. north korea doesn't care if they go to war and south isn't dumb enough to fall for it. although the president is kinda.. retarded
south korea just filed for tougher sanctions on north korea through UN, including banning all economic trades (canada supports south korea) and they might even push for restricting all north korean ship movements so they can't sell their weapons anymore.
but unlike the south koreans in korea who thinks it's a conspircy, i think the north is crazy enough to shoot a torpedo. those fuckers killed some US soldiers back in the 70's with an AXE
Apparently South Korea is fighting back.. with a pop song.

On May 24th, President Lee Myung Bak of South Korea addressed the nation over the sinking of the Cheonan and vowed retaliatory action against North Korea after investigations showed that they were responsible.
The retaliatory actions outlined will not be an all-out war on their neighbours up north but through economic sanctions and the resuming of psychological warfare along the border. So what has this got to do with K-pop and 4minute?
From an excerpt of a report written by Bomi Lee @ Bloomberg,
“South Korea broadcast a pop song extolling freedom of choice and a warning on the dangers of overeating into North Korea, ending a six-year moratorium on propaganda in retaliation for the sinking of a warship…
The propaganda broadcast made on FM radio began at 6 p.m. local time yesterday when a woman anchor announced what she called the “voice of freedom.” North Korean listeners were regaled with a song by a South Korean girl band, Four Minute.
In the tune, “Huh,” the band sings: “When I say I want to appear on TV, when I say I want to become prettier, everybody says I can’t do it. Baby, you’re kidding me? I do as I please…”
The South Korean government is using the lyrics off 4minute’s latest hit song, Huh to take a dig at the regulated North Korean regime, by saying that you can’t do anything in North Korea as you wish and that there’s no freedom at all. But in South Korea, you can do as you please without being controlled (somewhat).

You can't really compare East Germany to North Korea. It was far easier to defect and learn about the West behind the Iron Curtain than it is for the average North Korean today.

The military is fiercely loyal to the regime because for the foot soldiers, being in the military is their meal ticket. As long as the leadership appears to be strong in the middle of a war/crisis, the military will remain loyal (i.e. they will shoot anyone trying to make a run for the border.)

there a report i read saying that the South Korean sinking was from a US mine or even missile
since it happened in an area in which the US has a heavy military presence; there's a anti-submarine warfare base of the USAs @ the location of the sinking (there was actually a anti-submarine warfare demonstration @ the location days prior to the sinking)
China dismissed the official story by South Korea/USA
North Korea supposedly doesn't have the tech to build a stealth submarine
speaking of which, doesn't a torpedo explode? how the hell can something be written on it and survive an explosion?
It doesn't completely disintegrate if that's what you're thinking. The explosive charge would fragment the metal, likely destroying much of it but I'd imagine that fragments of multiple sizes would survive.

I was told that NKs are automatically given SK citizenship if they manage to set foot on SK soil. The problem is getting out of NK... Typically it's done indirectly through China. They just don't let you leave NK that easily...
