i dunno man, i find no tax day isn't as apppealing as it used to SS really got rid of a lot of their electronics, it's pretty much just batteries, memory cards and some TVs. I think they're even trying to get rid of their video game section altogether. i bought my Sony soundbar last September when it was no tax, now i'd be hard pressed to find even sylvania speakers at superstore |
True. They are getting rid of video games. I was told that by one of their associates. I never did the electronics thing, because I get 20% off on seniors day at Shoppers, plus bonus cards and optimum points. Notice how Shoppers are now getting more into electronics, as SS is getting out of it? Owned by same people as Superstore. Waiting for "Spend your points event." |
It's official, No Tax day is this coming Saturday. One day only. Got a list of stuff ready. Cleaning supplies, kitchen gadgets, linens, toiletries, etc. But, only stuff that rarely go on sale. If they're on sale that day, then it's a bonus. 3X points using the PC World Elite Mastercard, ftmfw! |
Black Friday is Superstore No Tax Day!!!! Sweet deals and no tax. Too bad they cut back on electronics |
Another one today. Wow! |

I saved the tax but friggin almost $ 40 environmental fees. |
What gets me is the fee on top of the deposit on beverages. It wouldn't be so bad if everyone charged the same amount. Some places charge more than others, while on rare occasions, none. So what is it? A handling fee? Anyway, I haven't checked recently, but the last time I did a while ago it was more at Safeway than at LD..........or was it the other way around. I gave up and just chalked it up to greedy retailers. Edit: just looked it up. It's called a CRF (container recycling fee). And, we're taxed 5% on top of that fee, since it is not considered a tax itself. It is a fee that is charged by recycling corporations to the public. The retailers either absorb it fully or a portion of it - pass the buck, so to speak. It would be great to see the cost of recycling absorbed by the producers, but that would mean higher prices anyway and would be next to impossible to implement. BTW, we're taxed on beverages, because it is a non essential, unlike milk. Chocolate or flavoured milk, however, is taxed. Viva la No Tax Day at Superstore! |
went last night to superstore. surprisingly not a lot of people at the store. saved 5 bucks in taxes |

Today only................ Keeping the thread alive. |
This coming Saturday, for one day only....................... https://www.flipp.com/flyer/1308636-...e-weekly-flyer The above link may not work properly for some. Since the current week's flyer is still in effect, Superstore's website, as far as I can tell, does not show next week's flyer that starts on Friday. And by the looks of it, redflagdeals doesn't either. I thought flipp.com was a stupid site (well it used to be when it started out), but it's acturarry pretty good. Edit: goddamnit............. I just bought a jar of cashews for 19.xx bucks today (Thursday) and they are on sale in next week's flyer, lol. Being frugal asian is not easy, gulolol. Oh well, that's why we keep receipts......... and.......... no tax on the cashews on Saturday :fullofwin: For those who wAnder about what's taxable in our neck of the woods......... http://www.mlwaccounting.ca/resources/whatistaxable.pdf |
