A whole week of NO TAX at Superstore. April 24th to April 30th. Well, not quite a full week but duration of sales week.

For those who haven't been to a NO TAX event, it is not what it used to be. You used to save tax on everything that was taxable. Junk food included. Not anymore.

Home Electronics, Toys, Joe Fresh Apparel, Floral, Lawn and Garden. Not sure about toiletries, beauty products, etc.

Should I go or stay home. Lineups will be crazy?

AzNightmare 04-21-2020 05:08 PM

What timing...
No better way than to get everyone flocking to one location.

It's all week..............

Also, not sure how good their curbside pickup system is, but that's another option.

Sister in law did a few pick up orders, generally missing half the items ordered. Depends on what they have in stock. We've had better success with Save On Foods delivery.

The one in Richmond atleast when I drove by, usually has quite a sizable line-up. Can't imagine what it'd be like with no-tax and all the C-lai's out in full force. Just not worth it in these times to save a few bucks.

MG1 04-21-2020 08:06 PM

Especially when not all taxable items are eligible. Not worth bothering.

Eatman 04-21-2020 08:24 PM

Man, why bother even holding this event.. this revised no tax event sucks

So much for huge ass lineups. I went to the Coquitlam Superstore at 10:00 am. No line up getting in, no line up at cashier. Scare everyone away with predictions of long lineups works. Gulolol.

2 Litre pop was on sale for $1.00. I'm trying to get off Diet Coke so got some 2 Litre Fresca. Optimum points off this week is 400 points off per Fresca item. That makes it freaking 60 cents a bottle. They have a limit of 2, so I matched No Frills pricing. Same price, but no limit. They honoured it. Win!!! As for No Frills, they had a head of lettuce at 1.00. Coleslaw 1lb bag for $1.50 (not as cheap as $1.00 on sale during their dollar sale). And the icing on the cake. They had Lysol wipes. Limit of one. I found a case way up high where nobody can see (unless you're a frugal asian)............. I took it down and offered them to the rest of the people in the line up. One lady almost cried. I have enough at home. Anyway............... what was Dr. Henry motto? "Be calm, be kind, be safe."

FYI - Superstore is not taking returns. Tried today and was turned away.

That's usually the case when No Tax Days are on.

They haven’t accepted exchanges/returns ever since this Covid-19 thing started.

MG1 04-24-2020 08:25 PM

They still do price adjustments when they screw up. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever returned anything at Superstore.

No you wouldn't. In my teens, my brother slipped on some baby oil from a shattered glass bottle in an aisle and cut his leg. It hadn't been cleaned or coned yet. They moved in the "warning slippery floor" markers, took pictures and claimed my bro walked through while they were cleaning so we wouldn't sue.

This was back in the pre cell phone days so we had no evidence. Lucky it was only a couple stitches. Fuck you Marine Drive Superstore.

sweet. do they still sell Play Stations?

MG1 11-20-2020 05:26 PM

No, don't think so. They stopped that shit a while ago. You have to go Shoppers now as that's Galen's electronics store. Way better deal when you think you can get 30% or more off when you time it with, "Spend your points," events. Or 20% off during seniors day. You qualify, yes? Oh, only select locations carry Nintendo and other game consoles and games. Kensington Square is one of them the Shoppers on Kingsway across from Metropolis is another.
