Filipino donation collectors on the streets of vancouver you've probably seen them around transit stops and in downtown. collecting for children/earthquakes/etc. i assume its a scam based on their overall shadiness - they do usually have some sort of identification that could easily have been photoshopped. any info on them? scam? |
Filipino kid collecting donations or white kid selling cookies, just walk by them and totally disrespect them with swagger. Just pretend like they don't even exist or have a soul. cuz all kids that sell shit or collect money work for cuban drug lords, then those guys use that money to bring drugs into Vancouver. Common sense man. |

i remember when they were at metro. they asked me for change when i walked in, so i gave them about 4 dollars. then on my way out they asked me again and i said i already gave you guys money..and then she stared at me and gave me the wtf look and said no you didn't.. then i just walked away and ignored them. lol. |
I was approached by one before and she kept hassling me to donate especially since im "fellow filipino", using that as a guilt trip. I told her i had no cash with me and she had the nerve to tell me she'll go to the bank with me to withdraw cash! i brushed her off and walked away. take 1exotic's advice and just pretend they dont exist or have a soul. no matter how much they hassle or annoy you, or even follow you, just walk away. they'll eventually leave you alone but they will stick to you like tree sap if you give the slightest hint of interest. |
most of the time these people are like middle aged to 30 something ladies or older. damn bitches are pretty persistent. |
filipino group on kingsway and joyce i was on the corner waiting to cross to 7-11, i see a group of filipino ladies walking towards me. they asked me for donations for some crap that i didn't couldn't make out. i said i had no change on me (which was true), so they asked me for bills, which i wasn't planning on giving anyways. and one of the ladies was like "you go to bank and take out money?" i was like "you gotta kitten me...." so i just ignored them and began crossing the street. they literally started following me across the street continuously asking me to take out money from the bank. |
I've seen these ladies all around town straight scam artists i bitched them out cuz they wudnt leave me n my buddies alone Posted via RS Mobile |

" Do you guys have any change? No? That guy just gave you $2!!! Come on, I just lost $500 at the casino and gotta win it back. OK OK, just enough to for a bus ride to the track? " |
Pretty sure it's a scam. Parked at E Spot once, as soon as I get out of the car, two philipino ladies corner me asking for change. I told them I didn't have any change on me and they asked me how I was going to play the games. I told them I was going to withdraw cash from E Spot's ATM to pay for my games and they offered to follow me inside to the ATM. Wtf!? Then another time, I was with my friends having some bubble tea inside Zephyr, then out of nowhere two phillipino ladies literally walked to our couch and sat on the armrest to ask for change. Who does that!?!? Again, we told them we were paying by plastic and they tried to guilt trip us to thinking that we're letting children die. |
hmm can't say i've ever come across this before. good to know! |
Hmmm i always wondered if they were a scam Posted via RS Mobile |

I have dealt with them b4, I was on my way into Superstore and 1 filipino lady came up and asked for donation for kids in filipino, so I gave her 5 bucks, being such a nice guy and all. And when I came out of supertore a diff lady came up to me and ask me for money again. I told her I already gave the other lady 5 bucks, and she have the nerve to say to me that if I gave her 5 bucks I have to give her 5 bucks as well. then I was like fuck off and left. fast forward 4-5 months, I was walking dt, and saw the same filipino lady asking me for money. At that point I know her face, so I just walked passed them and shook my head. TOTAL SCAMMER !! |

lol these ladies (usually) are so annoying. they just follow you everywhere until you snap or give up something. |
I had the same situation happen to me too,2 old filipino ladies walked up to me on the street, kept asking me for change, when I told them I had none, they told me to go to the bank and gave me a guilt trip. They kept following me,finnally I said to them,if you keep harrassing me I will call the cops and tell them you are trying to rob me and report you to immigration, sure enough they ran off real quick. |
I haven't seen this yet |
It happened to me at Superstore recently. I lady struck up a conversation with me in the chips section and then it progressed to asking for a donation. I told her I'll only donate to a good cause if she can provide me with a receipt for income tax purposes. She said she couldn't and said she'll accept small change. I told her to put that bag of chips (from her basket) back on the shelf and use that money for a donation. She said no and I told her to have a nice day. |
see this all the time back then at 3 road blenz They come up to you, and bug you for change and stuff... and are pretty fucking persistent. You're better off not wasting the time (scam or not) bugging people. |
I've ran into them at a lot of different places in the lower mainland. Most of the time were in Metrotown. They would approach you and shove this laminated flyer with flip kids on it in yo face and ask you at least 5 times to donate. The most recent encounter was @ the Starbucks on Ackroyd in Richmond last week. Quote:
