i don't understand the amazon.com/.ca thing with regards to the huge price differences... i've even seen it happen with the same seller listed on both sites excluding shipping :(

MG1 11-16-2016 09:35 AM

It's really mind boggling.

However, there have been the odd time, shit has been cheaper on the .ca site. Rare, but it happens.

I usually have his builds playing in the background while I'm working on my kits. it gives me inspiration to suck less. inspiration only...apparently his skills don't transfer through my computer screen to me.

Tools & Materials :: Paints :: Gaia Basic Color

I wonder if Burnaby Hobbies can get these, since they are a partner store with Zoukei Mura / Volks USA.

MG1 12-23-2016 11:07 PM

Just released............

SWS 1/48 scale McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom ? | Zoukei-mura Inc.

Burnaby Hobbies is a partner store. I wonder how much it will cost and how long it will take to get them in.

MG1 12-29-2016 06:46 PM

Went to Imperial Hobbies yesterday. Boxing Week sale still on. Anyway, looking through the Tamiya tool section when I spot this..........

1/35 Scale U.S. M40 Metal Gun Barrel Set

I look at the packaging and it looks like the newer type. Then I go over to the Armour section and see this...........

1/35 U.S. Self-Propelled 155mm Gun M40

I had no choice but to get it, LOL.

It will go well with the Tamiya 1/35 scale German Nashorn I got last year. http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/35335/index.htm

Oh, I also went to Burnaby Hobbies and an F-4J Phantom by Zoukei-Mura is slated to arrive early January. Going to be a busy 2017.

Does Burnaby hobbies have boxing day/week sales usually? This is the first year I've gotten into scale model cars so I've never checked them for sales before.

MG1 12-30-2016 09:41 AM

They don't participate in sales all that much and they didn't have a boxing day sale. They do have one some time late in the year, but I think it didn't happen this year or I missed it. The owner decides when and if.

The place has been hit multiple times, as in broken into. Constantly having to repair, restock, etc. No time to get stuff in order. I will start shopping there more often. I think the place needs support from the modelling community. I'd hate to see the place go.

Indy 12-30-2016 09:56 AM

Everytime I'm in there the owner is talking up a storm with customers and knows lots of people by name. Feels very personal.

I've been going there for all my painting supplies and a few kits. The markup over online prices for the kits I've been looking at haven't been much more than if I ordered through HJL or Hobby Search myself.

Definitely a local business I'd like to continue to support.

thumper 12-30-2016 09:56 AM

i try to go there regardless of sales... i don't want to see it go either :(

the last time they got broken into someone drove a stolen truck through the front display window which is why it's got all those barricades now. and then it took months to fix and restock because the insurance company dragged it out... bastards

Indy 12-30-2016 10:00 AM

when I was in there just before christmas the owner was telling me how the heater unit just broke too.

MG1 12-30-2016 12:46 PM

That's why my balls were freezing the day I went. My fault for not dressing warmly, lol. That Zoukei-Mura plane is mine. Don't any of you think of getting it. I'm sure he's getting in more than one, hee hee. Such a nice model. Actually, all their models are top shelf. This will be my fifth one, but none built yet.

MG1 02-08-2017 05:00 PM

Was at Burnaby Hobbies to pick up my Zoukei Mura 1/48 F-4J Phantom.

SWS 1/48 scale McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom ? | Zoukei-mura Inc.

https://www.volks.co.jp/page_ex.jsp?...235&version=en

Damn, it's amazing. Price was very decent at $135.00.

They also had a Zoukei-Mura Pro-Zetsu cutter there. After I talked to another customer about how good the cutting pliers were, he bought it right away. I also mentioned about how it is almost as good as the "God Hand" cutting pliers. Owner goes, "I'm working on getting them, too." For $70.00 to $75.00 each. Damn!

At $58.00 CAD, the Pro-Zetsu cutting pliers are very decent.

If you're into small scale modelling, especially Gundam, these two cutting pliers are a must have tool.

i don't remember if you have done this but do you have any pics of your builds?

MG1 02-08-2017 09:47 PM

Actually, I don't. They're for my eyes only, lol.

I never share, but I do stop to admire them once in a while. Like my extensive stamp collection. I bring them out of storage now and then and just get lost in it all.

Not only that, most of my models are still in boxes. The retooled 1/350 scale Tamiya Yamato I started four, maybe five years ago, for example, still sits on my work table 4/5 complete, collecting dust. Maybe I should stop going to the casinos and get back to finishing it.............. if I can remember where I put all the parts.

thumper 02-09-2017 07:29 AM

booo :(

thumper 03-09-2017 12:02 PM

anyone familiar with this product? supposedly a real paint pen and not a fancy glitter marker:

MG1 08-17-2017 05:19 AM

I've had that in my goodie bin for quite some time. I bought it at Imperial Hobbies Boxing Day Sale. Actually, I bought a lot of stuff. Always a sucker for shit when it goes on sale - even though I may not ever use it. :okay:

The thinking is, "One day I'll need it."

.............been on Volks' website, eh?

thumper 09-04-2017 07:26 AM

google sent me to volks. i was trying to see if there is anywhere local that had it because burnaby hobbies near me does not have it. online it's like $17-24 so far.

MG1 10-25-2017 07:21 PM

The Vancouver IPMS show has come and gone. I went to the swap meet and walked out with zero, and I'm not talking about the Imperial Japanese Mitsubishi Zero.

I haven't touched a model in such a long time. I'm afraid I've become a model kit collector.

I was about to take on the Perfect Grade Ashtray I purchased at last year's Imperial Hobbies sale, but one look at the instructions and all the parts,I put it back in the box, lol.

Anyway............

ZOUKEI-MURA Inc.

in particular their newest offering, the 1/32 DORNIER DO 335 A-12 PFEIL

MG1 11-12-2017 03:33 AM

Star Wars fans might want to have a look at this, lol. Your very own Millennium Falcon. Not just any replica. This one is a 1:1 scale.

https://www.model-space.com/us/build...S_MF_Nov-12-17

Before you get all excited and go buy some farmland to construct it, it is a 1:1 scale of the studio model used in the film studios. Still, it is an awesome model.

THEN........... there's this.

68style 01-25-2018 01:19 PM

Has anyone ordered paints from Gravity Colours? I ordered on December 28 and paid but it still says “Processing” on my order status and they aren’t responding to 2 email requests I’ve made.
