...no.

Mid March at the earliest for me for lower mainland. You might be able to get away with it end of february, but we are still susceptible to cold snaps until end of february, so unless you like changing tires like you are a nascar pit crew, then it's way too early.

Most people keep them on for the duration of the winter season however long or short ... I had a friend in Toronto who would look at the weather and decide what set of tires to keep on or take off. He had a hydraulic jack and an air compressor wheel gun ... probably dreams about being on a pit crews at the Indy 500.

DH Vancouver StaffFeb 01, 2017 9:35 am14,008
Earlier forecasts for the return of snowfall beginning Friday and lasting through Tuesday are persisting as the weekend grows closer.

Environment Canada’s most recent forecast this morning for its main Vancouver weather station at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) indicates the continued possibility of snowfall, but slick road conditions could potentially be tempered by possible periods of rainfall – particularly during the daytime when temperatures rise above the freezing point.

A high pressure system responsible for this week’s sunny conditions in the South Coast will move further inland and be replaced with a moisture-packed low pressure system coming from the southwest.

Expect daytime highs of between 2°C and 4°C and overnight lows of between -3°C and -4°C at YVR and other nearby low-lying areas near the warming influence of sea waters from Friday to Tuesday.

Colder temperatures can generally be expected at higher elevation areas in Vancouver, the North Shore, eastern municipalities in Metro Vancouver, and Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby Mountain campus. More snowfall could be experienced at these locations.

No estimated snowfall accumulations are provided by the federal weather agency at this time, but The Weather Network currently predicts as much as 24 cm in Vancouver from Friday to Tuesday, with as much as 10 cm during the first wave on Friday.

Over in Abbotsford, the chance of snow is greatly increased as temperatures are expected to hover at the freezing point during the daytime and reach an overnight low of -7°C when the moisture system arrives. Conditions will be even colder along the Sea to Sky Highway, with overnight lows of -7°C and -10°C for Squamish and Whistler Village, respectively. Only snowfall is forecasted for Squamish and Whistler, no rainfall is expected.

Significant snowfall can also be expected in the ski hills in the North Shore and Whistler Blackcomb, providing the moun

What this should actually say:

Quote:
The professionals at the Federal weather agency who have absolutely no bias or reason to lie have deemed it to early to make accumulation predictions. But since we get paid by hit, and "HUGE SNOW STORM" is a better headline than whatever they can come up with, we will just pull numbers out of our ass and throw them in a shitty article in order to drive more business to our website so we can continue to sell more shitty ads.
FUCK YOU VANSHITTYBUZZ.

What's the story with The Weather Network? Why are they terrible at weather forecasts too? (I had their app on my phone but after an ad-filled update, I deleted the stupid thing)

While you're not seeing "warming" here, the fact that the earth/oceans are getting continually warmer means that we're to expect nastier/more unpredictable weather patterns. This is likely how you would "see" global warming.

Edit: not sure if you were being facetious. If you were, fail away lol

There's no doubt we are facing the effects of global warming. And, I agree that man is most likely to blame, but it could also be a cycle that our planet is going through. In the meantime, since all scientific evidence points to it being our fault, I'm doing my part (electric vehicle) and being frugal with energy usage.

One of the best times to be a scientist looking for grant money. Hey, I'd be stirring the pot, too.
