Hmmm, I'm still on the fence.

murd0c 12-25-2010 09:27 PM

Bestbuy always has deals on desktops tho. You should check out the laptops I would go that route for now if you can find more bang for your buck

Doubl3_H 12-25-2010 09:37 PM

It's probably not as simple as you're making it out to be. They probably have their own servers colocated in a data centre somewhere, and even if they were willing to spend money on another X number of servers to handle this temporary load, they might not have the power or rackspace available for it, and it's not a trivial task to remedy that. They would have to get new power circuits installed, possibly a bigger cage, etc.

My haul so far:

NCIX:

Eagle Tech ET-CS2MU2-BK 2.5IN IDE to USB Black MESH External Enclosure USB 2.0
$10.99 - US$10 Rebate

Have an old 80GB IDE laptop drive sitting around, so will have a nice extra portable drive for just a couple bucks.

MemoryExpress:
MLG Mini Sports Video Camera
$18.88

Patriot Signature Flash microSDHC Card, Class 4, 8GB w/ Adapter
$9.99

Spur of the moment purchase. Neat little camera that comes with three different mounts so you can easily clip it onto your visor in your car, on your helmet, or many other places.

NewEgg:
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
$89.99 - 15% Cashback

Way better user experience reviews than any of the Seagate or WD 2TB drives. Seems like this drive is only sold in the US for some reason, but fortunately it's available through NewEgg Canada.

Been suckered into standing in line at NCIX tomorrow morning. :( The Langley store, though. Don't even really plan on buying anything, though one of the ATX cases is tempting me right now.

Armind 12-25-2010 10:21 PM

Any good deals on tablets (wacom) or flash drives? :D

KingDeeCee 12-25-2010 11:01 PM

First boxing day. If I get to best buy at around 5:30, around what position should I be looking at? 100? 200? Even more?!

I would have missed that sports cam if I hadn't read your post. Exactly what I wanted.
Cheap alternative to GOPRO Cam

It really depends on which location you line up for.

Cambie, Burnaby and Lansdowne locations are the busiest so you'll want to go there earlier.

The ones out in Surrey will probably have less people.

hchang 12-26-2010 12:16 AM

Hows the quality on those Mini Sport Cameras?

StealthFighter 12-26-2010 12:40 AM

just ordered final fantasy 13 and super street fighter 4 for $20 each from the comfort of my own home:fuckyea:

probably gonna pick up a few blu-rays tomorrow. nothing else really appeals to me.
