Yeah the soundtrack has gone crazy. Topping charts around the world. They beat Psy and BTS Billboard records. We got tickets for the sing along screenings on the weekend. Wife is the lucky one to take the kid lol. The older one still refuses to watch. Prefers Minecraft and the Star wars Trilogies. Also planning out 3d printing the demon hunter sword for Halloween. |
I fucked up a bit recommending Alien Earth. The show was fantastic the first few episodes, but goddamn did they ever shit the bed by the season finale. No spoilers, but typical modern writing Mary Sue bullshit. |

Worse, they end up giving her unlimited powers completely unfounded until the last episode, making her completely OP, for no real reason. It's just bad writing. |
https://resizer-acm.eco.astro.com.my...5114_15484.jpg I posted it on the wrong thread last time. anyone watched this TVB? Great script, very socially relatable due to being in line with current events. Very different than last season as it was just about reporters / anchors. This time it's about different broadcast stations. Very proud of this as change is always good. It woudl be boring if it's the same style over and over again. |
friend sent me this... netflix low key removed casting feature to TV's http://www.macrumors.com/2025/12/01/...QHznedrx5D8a3w |
^What would be the logic behind that? Such a stupid feature to remove when some people are using older TVs that require that functionality. Seems odd they'd remove a pretty standard feature like that, is this for more control over their own ecosystem? |
^They probably want people to log into Netflix through their smart TV to capture (and sell?) more user data. |
Easier to crack down on sharing logins? |
^Weird way of going about it. If you're logging on using your phone, you're already able to access the app accordingly, casting just allows you to project the view onto the TV. Also allows people avoiding having to leave their login information sitting on a damn Airbnb TV when you login using the TV app. Just seems odd all around. |
You can log in from your phone, but now you can't cast it on your friends/parents/grandpas TV. This nuisance may lead to more subscribers and less sharing. |
all other platform will crack down on sharing now. |

They're considering that's a "different household", but what difference would that be as opposed to logging into the app but in an Airbnb or some other location? It's the same shit. |

I assume most people by now have gobbled up the first 4 hugely long episodes of Stranger Things S5? I have to say whether you like the direction it's going storyline wise or not, nobody can argue just how fucking well this show is made. Every technical aspect of the show from visual to sound to cinematography to music to special effects to 3D animation is absolutely top notch work. I appreciate all the details that still creep in like the dimple textured OG glass Gatorade bottles I had forgotten all about. |
^I stopped watching after the 1st season. Would I be able to just pop in and start from S5? |
I watched episode 1 last night. It's nowhere close to the style of the first season, which was shot like an 80's horror with mystery and creepiness. Now it's a full on 2020's sci fi schlock with a ton of CGI. Still watchable I guess, but hardly the same show. |

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Shaka when the walls fell... |
I heard that show is getting really bad reviews, at least from Star Trek nerds |
Discovery was a chore to watch and the last season of Strange New Worlds was awful. Is it any surprise this show from the same creators is going to be shit? I thought Trump was going to put an end to all this woke shit? |
https://deadline.com/wp-content/uplo...ix-posters.jpg Speaking of other bad shows: Stranger Things Season 5 Yes, I went through the whole show run. Season 4 was an absolute slog but at least at that point, you want to see how this over-telling of plot & over-cast of characters will reach the final goal. Will some of them die to make the rest of the plot more manageable? Will girlbosses continue to girlboss? Will the males just be dumb counterparts who SOMETIMES have one good idea per episode? And then Season 5 happened And none of that happened... And made it all so much worse... I could write my thoughts but instead, I'll just say I didn't mind the ending (post climax) epilogue as it reminds me of Spoiler! And as terrible as this final season was, I acknowledge that as a viewer, we were there with these people for the last 10 years this show existed. So I think they all earned that ending before the final dip to black. That's my main pro for this show. Other pro is some of the casting is decent. SOME, like 3 out of 100 cast? I won't list out all the cons but I'll just sum it up as this: Little to none of the plot made sense. Everything we come to know about the otherworld and the monsters just gets rewritten as if they only had 1 season written, and the epilogue in Season 5. Everything in between was just a mix of ChatGPT, the diversity roulette wheel and plot holes the size of Mauna Loa. This is what happens when you throw too much at it and with too many characters. And all the females are so damn fucking annoying. I really with Lucas' sisters was thrown into a combine harvester to save all our ears. Spoiler! Just typical Netflix infused trash. Could have really had something magical but ruined by something I can't even pinpoint? Perhaps Nextflix brass, conflict in the writer / producer room. I don't know. All I can say is just watch if you want to see it through, otherwise, there's better ways to spend 11 hours of your time. Oh and FFS, the crying. The crying in this season can turn the Atacama Desert into the fucking Choco Forest... EDIT: I don't think many of these actors will find much work after this. Again, only like 3 of them were actually good and invested in their character's reason-to-be. |
^ when they did the lsat season, didn't they do a huge showing at local theatre in BC. I swear one of the guy was from BC who also invested in the film / theatre.. so in order to not get in shit with the movies and pay, they allowed him to play at a theatre and not partake on the income.. gosh i really should watch this show. |

But seriously, you should watch it. Season 1 is damn good. From there, YMMV. They did air it in select theaters and it made more than $25M USD in sales :lawl: The guy who played Michael (the 'leader' of the boys) was born in Vancouver. He's also a musician too. |
