^ I blasted through Star Wars: Skeleton Crew last week... it was a CHORE... I mean there were a couple things I liked about it, the SM-33 robot was pretty funny at times and well voiced by Nick Frost... and the elephant kid was sweet... and I liked the sideplot with KB with her augmentations.... but other than that it was straight up bad kiddie movie stuff... like they have to repeat things a character says 3 times to reinforce a plot point and just being zany and silly for the sake of being zany or silly.

The main kid was annoying AF taking nothing seriously and just being a dipshit. Jude Law's brilliance as an actor got totally lost having daddy day care tantrums.

Show was pretty shitty for an adult or serious Star Wars fan... but I think kids will like it which is more the point I suppose. Bleh.

I did laugh at the idea or Carlton from Fresh Prince as a menacing pirate though lol

Oh man I loved that show! Yes it was stupid and basic, but it's supposed to be stupid and basic, it's a kids show. It really reminded me of the kids shows I watched.. as a kid. Including the dipshit who couldn't keep his hands off things LUL

Sometimes when I watch these old movies I watched growing up, I wished I could lose my memory so I could experience it again. This show basically gave me that feeling.

I watched both seasons from AppleTV of "Silo" which is not to be confused with some other show also called The Silo. This show follows the book series by Hugh Howey which I have not read, but may well go back to reading now although from what I have briefly researched, the TV show strays quite a bit from the book almost immediately.

The show basically takes place in a, you guessed it, self contained silo which appears to be able to generate it's own electricity and food supply for about 10,000 people. You don't know why they're in there and they actually don't know why either because anything from the "before" times is not allowed/illegal. There is some ambiguity about whether the outside is actually toxic or not.

There's some fantastic characters and actors, Tim Robbins is in it... who I actually did not know is a fucking GIANT, the dude is like 6'5" and the rapper Common plays a secret governmental type of police force dude. Steve Zahn makes an appearance later in the show in a great role. You'll recognize other actors and actresses you've seen in things before too like Iain Glen who played Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones.

I couldn't stop watching it, pretty fascinating political and psychological elements imagining what you would do in a similar situation and questioning things you've believed your whole life.

Highly recommend checking this one out.

Agreed! I thought Jude Law did a great job, and the kids were annoying. I think kids would have enjoyed the series though, so kudos to the creators if that was their intention.

The pirate character you're referring to was played by Jaleel White, who played Steve Urkel from Family Matters (not Alfonso Ribeiro/Carlton Banks from Fresh Prince).

Does it get better later on? I was watching a few episodes on the plane coming back from Colombia, but it wasn't gripping me.

So I severely hurt my back a few days ago and all I could do was carefully sit down and watch something on Netflix. I remembered this show years ago and decided to revisit it. I re-watched the first 2 seasons and then the remaining 3 in proper binge fashion.

All in all, I can honestly say the show was far more painful than any disc slipping within me.

I was really hoping for a Futurama meets Fantasy flavour and while it started off tasting sweet like chocolate, I very quickly realized it was chocolate starfish.

saw some big posters so decided to catch up on season 1 and 2. Pretty legit.

Did some history digging.
1) Season 1 during covid - they needed a show.
Director made a show that was a bubble at hotel.
They booked 17 weeks during covid so the hotel can have some income.

Director really loved the flexibility / uniqueness around "burning down the house and rebuilding again"
Really enjoyed the theme and dynamic of everyone. Theme was about woke, rich versus poor etc.

2) Season 2 - was cool to see 1 unique character coming back.
This time the theme was all about relationship, trust, business, dating, and family etc.
Totally took a turn and even if it was not really a good PG 13 theme with hoookers and blow, i quite enjoyed the ending.

3) Season 3 - well today on the new SNL had apologized regarding Aimee Lou Wood's teeth gap.

Guess i'll binge this one.

finished this. Really appreicate the writer / director for keeping up with the style. Man it took a while to get into for the first few episode. How 4-5 stories come together yet keeping it all in one place was pretty cool.

Some parts were a bit over the board esp/ the botherly love being on a sail boat was weird as F; all in all, thank goodness 8 episode kept it tight.

Solid all around, acting was great - never really liked a few of the characters - yet they pulled it off at the end - thanks for superb casting and story line.

Two shows that I had zero hopes for but happened to completely blow me away

Miracle Workers <- It's a slow burn comedy, but its so freaking refreshingly funny, great ideas

Late Bloomer <- May be relatable to some, I found the stories very compelling, not loosely written, characters are well rounded throughout.

I loved season 1, haven't given the rest of the seasons a fair shake yet. I will watch again once I have some time.
