tim hortons FTW :fuckyea:

Nicotine 01-06-2011 08:51 AM

simple and clean they probably removed the wordmark because the base logo is already so well known. now when the signs change and people travel its exactly the same everywhere no words to translate on a sign. imo.
its like pepsi

I don't mind Tim Horton's coffee, but with their routine price increases I've switched to Starbucks. I prefer the taste of Starbucks coffee and I find the service is much better, so I don't mind paying an extra .25 cents; especially if I'm planning on staying to drink my coffee there.

Balderdash!

There's more psychological factors in enlarging that portion of the logo than you think!

Armind 01-06-2011 10:47 AM

At least they didn't pull a GAP rebrand LOL.

dachinesedude 01-06-2011 10:50 AM

i think starbucks doesnt want to be seen as ONLY coffee anymore, since they are involved in many other products now

besides, their logo is easily recognizable so the words are needed, most brands head towards this trend anyways, they are popular enough to have just a logo to represent them

i like it, its cleaner, ppl just need to get used to it

RevRav 01-06-2011 11:06 AM

Old one ftw. Or even the first logo with "Coffee and Tea"...

SpoonDC5 01-06-2011 11:57 AM

i like the old logo better

dlu 01-06-2011 12:13 PM

they cut coffee from their logo because of possible product expansions

honestly, if you you just showed me the new cup without telling me it was the new startbucks logo i wouldn't know what it was. i recognize the starbucks logo by the ring with STARBUCKS and ... whatever it says on the bottom. not by the squiggly lines in the middle which I now know are some sort of a girl?

ra604 01-06-2011 12:32 PM

eh, there's a reason why tim horton's coffee is so cheap..tastes like pure sugar.
starbucks is expensive, though they have other stuff that ain't so bad like the fraps

Ikkaku 01-06-2011 12:33 PM

^ what does that have anything to do with the logo change?

ra604 01-06-2011 12:40 PM

nothing, i'm just saying

J____ 01-06-2011 12:41 PM

looks like shit. and honestly without the words, i wouldnt knw thats starbucks. I dont think their mermaid logo is unique and well known enough to represent the brand without any text. it's not something super recognizable like the nike swoosh or the apple logo.

Overpriced? I don't know of any cafes that sell cheaper espresso-based drinks. Or food items.

Can you recommend some to me?

knight604 01-06-2011 01:08 PM

I wouldn't notice if they changed the design of the cup.

Starbucks has become such a large international franchise that they no longer need to advertise words to signify that it's a cup of coffee by them, they just need the siren from now on. Kind of like the Nike Checkmark or the Coca Cola bottle silhouette.

nailed it. they dont need the wordmark anymore.

the simple green+white makes you associate it with being environmentally friendly.... they use the same shades as many environmental cues

Psykopathik 01-06-2011 02:11 PM

it'll be a green paper cup in the end.

Phat_R 01-06-2011 02:38 PM

they are making the logo bigger so you don't notice them secretly decreasing the capacity of the cups
