Honestly, Starbucks Zombies wouldn't care about the Logo in about a week or two and continue to indulge in the crack infested product. :D

Matlock 01-06-2011 03:32 PM

For Saudi Arabia, they should just make it into a merman.

Yeah I think they pulled it off the shelves and reverted back to the "straw in the orange" within a month

I doubt Starbucks will be able to decrease the sizes of their cups anytime soon. Especially since they just released a set of ceramic mugs that have the fluid ounce capacity of their sizes on the side of them.

Tall: 12 OUNCES
Grande: 16 OUNCES
Venti: 20 OUNCES

Besides, we've been having "Now, get more for the same price!" things for the last 10 years. Why not shrink instead of hiding price increases?

orange7 01-06-2011 04:59 PM

why?

When you ran out of products ideas.. this is what you come up with.

Hidden Gem baby, no one drinks this shit in HK cuz everyone's about the image of drinking exp coffee rather than the coffee itself. But for 20 odd bucks HKD u get some legit shit........their food is good too!

^this.

With all these new trendy artsy idiots saying "less is more." I wouldnt be surprised if in a few years its just gonna say [starbucks.] on the cup. Logos will be extinct.

StylinRed 01-06-2011 05:51 PM

If they were going to Save money like some suggested they'd be better off just printing a smaller logo on the cup instead (it would probably look better and more modern too)

the next iteration will probably just be the face+crown

then ask for a lesser amount of sugar?

black coffee doesn't taste anything like pure sugar until you start requesting for this and that, so really who's to blame?

jeedee 01-06-2011 10:12 PM

Still don't get how the hell that logo has to do with coffee..

It doesn't. That's the point. They want to expand the brand so they're dropping the coffee part.

read the whole thing if you have the time to... but IMO the punchline is the 4th paragraph http://blogs.hbr.org/merholz/2009/02...ing-folly.html

i couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with it until i read that article and it hit the nail on the head.

i actually did the same thing at the store one time. i was looking for orange juice, probably tropicana, and didnt see it until i did a second look. then when i did see the tropicana it looked like they had cheapened it, not just the container, but the juice itself due to the new container.

the old logo jumps out as being juicy and thirst quenching and refreshing. the new one makes it look dull and boring and generic.

RRxtar 01-06-2011 11:09 PM

rebranding is a real touchy thing espeically in a market like north america. alot of people identify with the brand more than the product.

as for the gap logo, the new logo actually looks quite good, but thats not the logo people identify with the gap. for that logo to work it would have to be on a new line.

Five dollar over-roasted, weeks, if not months old stale coffee.
