I've read that they'll be used sometime in March for their 40th anniversary

Only every time from now on.

MindBomber 01-06-2011 03:48 AM

I like it; clean, modern, simple, but still very clearly starbucks.
I have a feeling switching to a single colour has to do with saving money.

same.. for some reason it makes me think of recycled and green XD

I think its a landmark logo for their company. Starbucks has become such a large international franchise that they no longer need to advertise words to signify that it's a cup of coffee by them, they just need the siren from now on. Kind of like the Nike Checkmark or the Coca Cola bottle silhouette.

JSALES 01-06-2011 05:27 AM

don't really like it

really modern/urban usually the people that like that style is people in their 20s, and i guess thats the age group there targeting. Really smart move.

I was going to say that they're probably hoping that their logo is popular enough that they won't need the name anymore. To be honest, I don't go often enough to immediately know that it would be a Starbucks cup...

All they did was enlarge the centre of the old logo and make it green.

Fuck I want to be their logo designer, get paid for doing jack shit.

the "logo designer" just designs what he's told to design. and jack shit? like ppl up there said, to me as well it looks more environmentally friendly, organic...fair trade. the other is morr traditional big corporate mammoth. brilliant to revamp the corporate image with just a "jack shit" change, no?

i personally prefer starbucks as a giant corporate mammoth tho lol

Designing a logo is far more than "doing jack shit". There's a lot more psychological factors going into the design than you think.

Great68 01-06-2011 07:14 AM

Now when I see starbucks cups littered on the streets I can think "My, how environmentally friendly!"

AzNightmare 01-06-2011 07:53 AM

I like it better, only because I've always thought the logo was way too busy.
If you compare with many other company logos, they're usually quite plain...
Although many logos are just simply their company name written in a stylized way.
Starbucks is big enough so everyone already knows them by logo, without needing the text
in the logo.

I never knew about the new GAP logo change, but really... I could care less.
I googled up on it and I can't believe how many customers are even crying over it.
Saying things like "I'll never shop at GAP again"
Like wtf, either they liked the GAP logo so much that they expected it to be plastered
all over their clothing (hence why a new logo change would mean a different design on the clothing),
or they're just trying too hard to find a reason to cry.

Can you imagine people NOT going to starbucks anymore just because the design on their
disposable cup changed?

Sid Vicious 01-06-2011 07:56 AM

different logo same shitty coffee

MG1 01-06-2011 08:10 AM

The first time I saw it, I didn't like it. Now that I've seen it a few times, it's fine.

It's like everything else in life. Change is hard, but I welcome it.

I think the chick needs bigger boobs, since we live in the silicone age. Now that change was hard to take........ seeing boobs so full and bigger than life. Before implants were invented, tits were..........nvm. I promised to change in the New Year.

must find god...........
