FOUND: Stray Dog, Please Read

Hey guys,

I was outside working when I saw this little dog walking towards me. I was in the No.2 and Williams Rd area when he found me.

He was very dirty when he came to me and it appears he has been walking around for quite a few days. He has a collar but no ID tags. Anyways, I gave him a bath then fed him (he was super hungry) and he is definitely someone's dog (friendly and responds to commands). Hopefully this thread will help find the owner.

Please PM me if you have any leads to who the owner(s) might be.

PS: My dogs' trainer has recommended that I contact Animal Control here in Richmond (on No.5 rd I believe), which I will be doing shortly.

He looks well cared for and happy. Someone out there is missing him. Hope you find the owner.

Thanks for being a Good Samaritan.

Props for taking care of him. Hopefully he will find his family soon. =)

instead of animal control you should call the SPCA. I'm sure they can help find the owner if the owner hasn't already approached them.

quick update: i've called animal control and they have asked me to bring the dog to them.

he will be located at:

SPCA should have the means to check for an ID chip as well (I dunno about the city pound).

good job dude that is great

stewie 02-04-2011 11:54 AM

a lot of dogs now have the chip in them so they can be scanned, heck maybe even his tattoo in his ear can lead to the registered owner...hopefully this dog finds his owner!

spoon.ek9, your awesome! good on you for helping the poor little dog out!!!

i forgot to ask if they would be scanning for a micro chip at the shelter but i did see that it was on the form i signed when i dropped the little guy off. they all seemed friendly and assured me the dog would only be put down over their dead bodies.

i'll call in on monday to check up on the case.

Good job man! :)

Most dogs are registered and have a chip in their ear. This way when a stray dog (without ID tags) is picked up by the SPCA, they can get in contact with the owner.

Good work man

If you have time, you could try a quick perusal in CL if an owner has posted a lost dog page. I think CL has been used for "missing items" before but I'm not sure.

spoon.ek9 02-04-2011 02:53 PM

^ i just checked quickly, nothing posted for missing dogs in richmond. when i have a moment, i'll make a posting to craigslist. i'll probably print the photo at work and post it up around my neighbourhood too.

Did he have an ID tattoo'd in his right ear, by any chance? My welsh corgi was stolen from our backyard about 3 years ago and we never found him. The one in the picture looks similar but a lot could've changed since then.

Culverin 02-04-2011 03:11 PM

Oh man, that dog is adorable!

I believe that collar tags aren't the only way they ID pets now.
My aunt's cat has an ear ID tatoo done. Have you checked for this?

We need more people like you in the world!
