I pay $50/yr right now for a range in Alberta, my full membership was $575/yr...the $50 associate membership fulfills the communist russia requirement of being a member of a range - it gives no range privileges and only serves to acknowledge the fact you're a member in good standing.

build an AR, most versatile plateform ever. I have 4 of them, 1 in .22 1 in 5.56, 1 in 7.62x39 and 1 in 9mm. If u r on a budget...just get 1 lower and different cal Upper.
Also,,Poco membership is the cheapest so far, once you are there long enough...apply for RUC, then u can shoot at the lower range without supervision.
By staying under 400$ the CZ is pretty much out of the question. I'd buy a stock 10/22..reliable has them for 225$ if you talk to randy or shane. Mystic precison in kelowna has a stock conversion kit to turn the 10/22 into a G36.

Great pistol. It's a lot cheaper than buying the 9mm P226 with a .22lr conversion kit. Not sure why its like that.

the entire pistol is made in USA(classic) unlike the 9mm the frame or slide is made in germany i think.
what ammo did you use?

ok just read through the whole thread as i'm wanting to get my PAL and my RPAL and pick up a rifle
a bunch of friends did their PAL through a guy at this place for $160, not sure exactly what was included or not
also looking at silvercore
now for a first gun i was looking at the following:
-ruger 10/22
-sks
-rem 597 (friend has this one)
reading through the thread seems like these are decent choices to start with
the sks seems to be the cheapest to buy, not sure where the ruger comes in at, and i think my friend said he got the 597 around $500??
was going to stay with a 22m but the sks seems like a good option
i'm not getting a handgun for now
also, all shooting will primarily be done in the bush
thoughts?

ruger 10/22 is like 250$ i think with a wood stock basic model and ammo is SUPER CHEAP, reliable as boxes of 500 rounds for 19.99 can't beat that.
sks is reliable but finding the ammo can be a PIA theres a supply for now, so if i were you i'd grab a crate of 2280 rounds(usually 300-400$) that should hold you for a while...
but those rounds are corrosive military surplus so you are going to have to clean your rifle better as the crap just gets everywhere..
i did the course at silvercore and i recommend it.. it wasn't boring and well, the instructor was awesome and informative

thanks, i think i've narrowed it down to the ruger and the remington
thoughts on the remington? it's about double the price, any reason for this? and benefits of it over the ruger?

what ammo did you use? | There shouldn't be no mix and match for country of origin. Your pistol is either made entirely in USA or Germany. Unless you bought a frankenstein sig, I doubt the frame and slide are made in different countries.
Since I'm a poor student, I can only feed whatever its cheap at the time of purchase. Right now, it's running on Remington 115gr FMJ. Not too bad, except in one pack, I had a round which the bullet sat far deeper into the casing. Not too bad though, 1 defect in a box of 500.
For .22lr, I'm using Blazers and Mini-mag. I can only speak from personal experience, but both are great ammo (with mini-mag being a tad better). the blazers gives you the most bang for the buck. That being said, I've experienced more jams in the blazers than the mini-mags (more malfunction drill practices?). But jamming is not really that uncommon for .22lr's.

haha, i bought a 1000 rounds of 45 ACP FMJ 230gn for 400$, was planning for 500, but i saved 80$ in total cost more... so figured why the heck not get real good with the 45 first, then get a 9 mm for ipsc or idpa
but i had to take the bus, i brought a backpack and carried 50 lbs of ammunition on my back for two bus's n the skytrain.. NEVER AGAIN....

bump...
i'm probably gonna pickup a .357 ruger vaquero sometime this summer, and also a 9mm (i havent decided which one yet)... i might get a 10mm auto instead, but the cost for bullets is more than double. sigh.
yeah the .357 cowboy cuz i duno, i have a thing for old style revolvers and the .357 Magnum 158gr JHP bullets are too yummy. plus i can always use .38 specials for cheap blasting off rounds.
