So i'm curious has there been a CM since the downtown bike lanes have been installed? If so DO the CM riders just ride outside of those lanes during CM?
^^ With Spring coming soon...(I hope) ... Critical Mass is fast approaching...knowing from their past experiences, they will probably riding on outside bicycle lanes hence the road that we drive on.
Pretty common that they hibernate during winter season and when bike season is out.........................god, you will hear and see them.
Again causing disturbance and ringing their bells weaving through car traffic.
Think I mentioned this before...it was last year in June, me and GF were at Moxies Broadway/Granville sitting on the front patio when all these cyclists came riding through with police escort behind them.
hahahaha...the guy sitting beside was yelling BOOOOOOOO...as he was drinking his beer.
I literally looked at him and toasted him with my drink.

I actually watched it on the news last Friday. They were saying since all the new bike lanes were put in that the last post on the critical mass website was made in Dec and last Fridays ride had about 40 people max.
The news was saying they bikers seem to be really happy with the new bike lanes thats why the CM was so small but I personally think it's cause the hipsters are too pussy to get wet.
and the funny thing about these biker faggots is if you honk at them or something they'll flip the fuck out. I made a post a while back in one of the hippie bike threads. I honked at some lady to get fucking moving on her bike (she purposley slowed down on her bike that's why I did, and my car was blocking traffic as I was trying to drive across some intersection). She blocked my car in the middle of the road screaming "he tried to run me over" and proceeded to call the cops..... basically just because she was honked at.
these fuckers only want attention and cause drama because they have nothing better to do.
This is so true. Some are really nice and yield. Many, I just wish they got ran over, broke a leg to teach them a lesson.
Few days ago, there's a fag-on-bike yelled fuck off at me for some reason when I yielded and stayed behind the bike lane on the connector from Pacific St to Burrard bridge. I saw plenty of people would just sit in the bike lane and wouldn't yield.
And I agree that if they want to share the road, license and insure their shits. Make no sense bicyclists can share the road without taking any road test.
Pot is illegal. Biking is legal. For me, this is all the more reason that Critical Mass should be respectful of the law(s). What they're doing isn't illegal--all they want is more awareness and more access to what they already have.
Beg to differ: cycling on the public streets isn't illegal, BUT OBSTRUCTING OTHER TRAFFIC IS. Cyclists are required to adhere to the same rules of the road as cars, and that includes NOT intentionally getting in the way of other users of the roads.

Well I know its not legal, but it seems like a loophole. Cops don't really say anything to them, and they just keep cruising like its okay. As if bikers weren't bad enough, its still not as bad as it could be. Right now, the average biker is lean and quite narrow, so they don't take up much space. With the advent of motorized bicycles we could see an emerging demographic of overweight cyclists who occupy 2x the room of a regular bicyclist.
And don't even get me started on how much the average fat person litters. Mcdonalds wrappers, take out boxes, you name it!

Yeah, they should get ticketed for not going with the average speed on the streets

On the other hand, nice to hear that CM in Vancouver is dying off. Cyclist got what they wanted. While I avoid Dunsmuir and Georgia Viaduct into downtown at all cost, it's nice to see Vancouver CM is shrinking in size. Posted via RS Mobile
even though i bike more than i drive, this brings me joy. I have no sympathy for attention whores like critical mass or the assholes that hold up traffic for a whole day because they want to jump off a bridge.
if i ever meet that driver, i'd shake his hand. the critical mass douchebags can go fuck themselves

No matter how annoying or stupid people get, only someone messed in the head with no regard for human life would commit an action that could easily paralyze or kill.
It's disturbing that this thread is full of people cheering on the guy.
do you not think the punishment should fit the crime? Especially since CM's actions aren't physically harming anyone.
You mean like a ticket? That would be wonderful.

But we're also talking loss of life.
I just think our system with this is broken.
If we aren't forcing bad bike riders onto the road, maybe there wouldn't be so much trouble?
Our system is broken because cyclists aren't registered and too many don't bother to learn the rules of the road. Instead, they pull jungle laws out of their ass with their 5 seconds of rationalization. Hell, I would settle for the city making an effort to educate some of these noobs so that it isn't amateur hour out there in the summertime.
Driving is a privilege? No, being on the road is a privilege. We spend more time teaching kids how to cross the street. The most sophisticated argument when it comes to safety on the road from hippie bike riders goes something like this:
"[*]Car hits bike, rider dies.
Bike hits pedestrian, both get a bit of scrapes. Tops."
That is aiming so low, it pisses me off to no end. I'm pretty sure these guys care far more about their "rights" to the road, their environmentalism, or their childish power struggle / blame game with cars than they do about actual safety. The road is not a playground. There's more than enough room for cyclists to share it. But not everybody belongs.
The funny thing is... cyclists never bothered me until after critical mass. Before that, I had no negative connotation for cyclists whatsoever so I wonder if they've thought out that their movement does more harm than good for their cause.

We should co-ordinate an event for like minded street paintball gunners with frozen pellets event. We can join the cyclists in expressing our frustration with not being allowed to play street frozen paintball whenever we like. To celebrate this event we shall mix in with our cyclist brothers and sisters and engage in all out full auto frozen paintball family fun!

7seven: I really can't stand all these idiots who hit the gym now just because they watched 300 and want to be like a spartan. Case in point, this skinny guy comes into the gym the other day, must have only weighed ~ 140lbs, loads on 2 plates on the bench rack, mutters to himself, for sparta, unracks the barbell and proceeds to drop it directly on his chest.
