Any penalties for filing late? My grandma is out of the country now and won't be back til mid May. She doesn't work and just collects what the govt. gives her lol

Penalty is 5% instantly on the balance owing + 1% each full month that passes + a daily interest. If she only receives OAS + GIS from the gov't and no other pension then she should be fine. If she only receives money from the gov't then you can probably even telefile her return for her, takes less than 5 minutes.

fyi if u dont owe any mony on ur tax u dont have to file it snd theres no deadline. its smart to file it for rrsp room etc but unless u owe money u dont have to
