I'm still amazed at how patient and law-abiding the Japanese are. In spite of all this chaos, they still line up to get into groceries or line up to fill up their cars. They don't loot, rob, or hog everything in the stores. Even the store owners do not jack up the price for water bottles, even though people will pay a lot more.

Compare this to hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Massive amounts of looting, and even high rates of homicide. Compare this with Haiti or China in their recent earthquakes as well.

Well according to the articles you quoted, only three of six reactors were online anyway, and two have already had explosions. These were hydrogen explosions, BTW, not steam (although they did release existing steam buildup).

Just because you googled articles to make yourself look smart, doesn't mean you actually understand what's happening.

So far all the explosions (to my knowledge) have been between the reactor vessel and the cement building housing the reactor vessel, cause by a venting of pressure from the reactor vessel. I believe the heat and pressure are causing the water vapor to disassociate into their components (hydrogen and oxygen). And the resulting explosion was the ignition of the built up hydrogen gas. And so far none of the reactor vessels have been damaged.

Seriously, though... it IS a very different culture. I remember an interview from years ago, a metal band playing in Japan, saying how different the crowds were there - where fans in most of the rest of the world are bouncing off the walls most of the show, in Japan they'd just sit there quietly, politely, watching the show... the singer said he'd just walk up to mic and say, "Go nuts!" and they would... for about a minute, and then settle right down again.

^ must be the wrong crowd, cause the crowds at x japan concerts in japan are nutso.
