school should suspend the bully and keep the victim. but in the long run, who cares. the bigger kid got suspended from highschool (or elementary?) and when he comes back no one is gonna fuck with him.
its like going to jail for avenging the death of a loved one, vs someone going to jail for child rape. i bet now the skinny kid will become the bullied.

Fat kid did not start it. He only fought back and as clearly seen, he was willing to walk away rather than to attack the bully and punishing him. The fat kid's action were not of retaliation, but rather "I don't need to take this, stop it, you're making a bad decision here".
He should not be blamed that the bully is a little bitch and can't take what he dished out. If he almost killed the kid, it was only within reasonable action and that the other kid is just a wimp and should not have gotten into said situation in the first place.
Know thy place in the urban jungle. Venture out and poke the bear and that's kind of really your own damned fault isn't it?

If the little kid got severely hurt this would be a totally different story. The big kid could probably get charged, but he's a minor so I don't know how bad the sentence would be.
At the end of the day, the big kid had every right (I believe), though, he still shouldn't have done that. But, I understand why the big guy lost it. He's probably been bullied all his life. Kids are mean.
I wasn't a bully, but I remember I've done and said some pretty nasty things when I was a kid and wish I could go back and undo those things. I've also let some of my friends bully other kids and I just sat back, watched and laughed. I feel really bad for that.

How about if these were two older teenagers in an inner city school in the states. Suppose they are similar built, and one was harassing the other as per this video as well. Instead of a zangief type body slam, the 2nd kid's reaction could very well be going to his gang and do some damage to the kid or shoot the kid.
From my point of view, if you want to start shit, be prepared for the consequence. Common sense. Do not jump in front of a train if you want to live. Do not INITIATE a fight and expect to not face the possibilities of being beaten up.
Focusing on this video, it was obvious that the fat kid did not want to fight. The person taking the video could have very well been the bully's friends - expecting some damage to be done to the bully's target. Lo' and behold, the fat kid defended himself. Perhaps having the female classmate around gave him the will power to defend himself  | |

So let me get this straight. The bully got suspended for 21 days and the big kid got 4? I can sort of understand where the school is coming from but if it were up to me, I would've suspended the big kid and the kid with the camera for a few days and expelled the bully.

Yes we're civilized beings with centuries of evolution under our belt but in the end, we're still just another animal on this planet. In that situation, years of civility can only last so long until one is pushed past it.
Anyways, I kind of find it superficial that you're limiting comparison to only the physical level. Sure if you want to compare extremities in consequence, the bully could have broken his skull and be dead or be paralyzed, but in comparison, isn't the extreme consequence of bullying depression/suicide?
If we're comparing possible extremities, seems on par to me.

i saw this a while ago and did some further digging.
the bullys mom was on the news saying that his kid deserved what happened, but now its not fair that nobody will ever forget about it(thanks to the interwebz) and that 3 kids were suspended
the bully the victim and the camera man
and the reason the victim was suspended was due to there ZERO TOLERANCE to violence rules.
