Is there a way to skip the 1 year Learners process in BC?

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a way to skip the 1 year Learners process in BC? like getting a license in another province or country?

Thanks

If I get a L in another province will I have to the L test again here? I don't mind reading the books and taking the N test but waiting a year for that test is painful.....

Can you even reach the pedals.

Yes I'm 18. I regret not getting my L before but I have a small business and being able to drive would help me alot.

just buy a scooter in the mean time if you need to get around for your business (assuming you aren't hauling anything)

Go live in Alberta for a year. Get your license there. Come back to BC. There. You skipped the one year learner process and the novice stage! :troll:

I do need to haul things from time to time and I don't want to sound like a pussy but I don't think I have the ballz to drive around in a scooter between cars.

If you go to a different province, you have to prove that you live there.
So that might be difficult. ie. if you go to Alberta. Then you can transfer your license over to a BC one.

I'm not sure if you have to a resident for X number of months though...
afaik, all provinces have a graduating license program. It's there for a reason.

No offense, but I don't want your noob ass driving next to me (especially if you have passengers) when there are 1000 c-lais on the road as well. There's enough retard drivers out there. And yes it is a painful process, but I think it does help and is there for a reason.

Driving is a BIG responsibility. And when you're new, you just don't have the experience that one needs to be safe on the road imo. Learning the theory is one thing, actually being able to perform under pressure is another thing. ie. if you start to hydroplain most people know not to hit the breaks, but for the novice this seams like the logical thing to do. Stuff like that takes time to learn and experience.

Hmm I read on yahoo that if you have less then 2 years driving experience they'll get you to take the N. But from ICBC's site it says that you have to do the GLP.

Not sure if this is BS

I understand your concern but at the same time for the N test I still have to prove that I can drive properly and have all the knowledge required. I would be willing to live in another province for a month or so. I've got friends in Alberta because that's where I used to live.

I would rather do this legally and that guy was passing people who failed the test. I personally wouldn't want myself driving if I failed lol.

TOS'd 03-19-2011 05:11 PM

Just get your mom to accompany in the car while you drive for your business.

I think you kinda understood it wrong... what I meant is why would I drive if I failed the test in response to the other guys post about the driving school.

Mom and dad is going overseas.

noventa 03-19-2011 05:28 PM

you are going to have to get a full license somewhere else other than BC. Then come back and trade it for a BC one. Thats the only way.

and icbc overrules whatever you found yahoo.

noventa 03-19-2011 05:30 PM

or you can get a kilo of cocaine and stash it in the desk of the DMV person. Then tip the cops off about the stash and when they come to arrest the people at the DMV, you can sneak behind the counter and print yourself off a interim drivers license.

sxe010 03-19-2011 07:53 PM

Yes. Don't let any cops catch you when you get behind the wheel.
