was mentioned a month ago in mobile phone section. lots of people are getting into it now tho

PiuYi 03-30-2011 01:06 AM

is it better than whatsapp?

skholla 03-30-2011 01:09 AM

Last I check this app looked cool but that's about it... No blackberry, yet... No group chat, yet.

Stick to what app, or for a better group chat experience check out beluga messenger.

WhatsApp!

skholla 03-30-2011 01:31 AM

Looks like Blackberry version came out a few days ago... Still no group chat tho.

@TL604, have you tried Whatsapp, Kik, Ping or Beluga? In your opinion how does live profile compare?

There's too many of these messengers right now. Whatsapp is the best overall but the group chat sucks and the app isnt free. Kik is getting trapping good but lacks proper media capabilities. Pingchat is ad riden and is sloooowww. Beluga is the best for group chat, currently lacks video, great interface but a bit diff from the rest, also was recently bought by Facebook so Im not sure if it will stay for the long run.

TextPlus has the best features of all the BBM-clones on the iPhone.

cliffhanger33 03-30-2011 03:24 AM

it has the R and D function, and has pins,

jeedee 03-30-2011 03:39 AM

I don't like how the bubbles/chat is big..but other than that it's pretty good

and TL604, accept my request fag LOL

TheKingdom2000 03-30-2011 06:33 AM

This app is useless if no one has it.

mb_ 03-30-2011 06:49 AM

Its not bad.. I believe its still in beta though. It won't be too long from now tha everyone will have instant messaging apps for their phone.. Might as well take out unlimited texting from my plan LOL

you guys notice that whatsapp is down quite often

Durrann 03-30-2011 11:44 AM

with whatsapp
i sent a msg to my friend yesterday and she didnt receive the msg till this morning
like it just popped out of nowhere

Roach 03-30-2011 12:01 PM

There are definitely some server issues with Whatsapp.

That being said, it provides groupchat functionality, a feature that LiveProfile is currently lacking.

Until it is added, I will stick with whatsapp.

the market leader I must say is still BBM at this point. but I have a feeling that won't last too long.

in terms of reliability sms seems to be the best.
even bbm has its off days where msgs dont send immediately

What's the difference between all these apps and Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or AIM??

The reasons BBM is popular are: ready to go right out of the box, no signup to anything required. Message delivery and read receipts ( probably most important lol ). Good integration with your BlackBerry phone. BBM groups.

All these messaging apps are for dumb people who have no clue. If you want a real messaging app, buy Beejive. It's available for iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry.

I have a blackberry but with liveprofile its the same deal. No signup to anything, just download it. Message delivery and read receipts, status updates, profile pics. It is basically identical to bbm.

Well, when BBM is included on every BB, it goes without saying. I don't think there ever will be a cross platform staple.

I haven't tried WhatsApp since their last update but I'm going to try it tonight, Kik has potential but lacks media functions and not many people know about it or have it, Ping is laggy and buggy, Beluga is good for group chats but is laggy just like Ping, for LiveProfile people have been telling me it drains their battery and i noticed myself that it is quite laggy at times but then again, it's still in beta so hopefully when beta is over a bunch of new functions will be released including group chat and other functions that other apps have.

Because its cross platform, the only thing keeping me on a berry is bbm and I'm sure I'm not the only one that would admit to this.
Their phones in my opinion, are horrible. Cheap materials, buggy OS, constant slow-downs, occasional restarts, web browser refuses to work... The list goes on!

With more variety as WELL as compatability between all 3 os's, RIM will get left in the dust. I mean their best screen res. is 480x360 FFS!

stewie 03-30-2011 02:42 PM

after seeing everyone on my facebook posting "add my liveprofile: pin ********.....i caved and installed it on my BB....gotta admit...i find it quite useless...i have bbm...to my friends who dont have bbm....i can just text them or actually dial there numbers and talk to them and not have to wait on a "did he read it yet?!....he did!!! and he didnt reply!!!! that asshole!!!!"

oh well though...this is just another one of those apps for people who have iphones who want to feel special and cool like the people who have BBM...
