$100k is a ridiculous amount for what he said. Not fair imo.

*Kobe makes about $23million a year (just salary) = about $280,000 per game.
So $100k won't affect him much.

IMO, the gay community should stop taking "faggot" as a serious insult, when not directed towards them. People use it ALL the time now regardless of the person's sexual orientation. They should stop associating themselves with it. I seriously doubt Kobe was insinuating on the ref's sexual preference.

I am not against gays in any way, but they are doing themselves a disservice by exploding things out of proportion.

I think it's great. I don't care what he specifically said to the ref, but I'm pleased that the fine is commensurate to his income. I'm also a huge fan of speeding tickets and other infractions/penalties being tied to the income/wealth of the individuals in question. Honestly, like that 20 minutes of work picture shows, it's not like the 100k fine is likely to affect his decision to or not to make outbursts at officials in the future anyways.
