It's still not god-like, though now, which is a good thing, IMO. It was outrageous before (hipcheck a guy who's standing still and he goes flying. WTF?)

They need to fix the dive-at-the-goalie glitch, though. I know we've won a game or two off it, but we've also lost several, too, and it's just incredibly retarded.

hotjoint 11-08-2011 07:19 AM

my online vs record is currently 25-4-1.

I was 1-1-1 then won 19 straight haha

I need about 10 more wins before I get to legend status..Then I'm gonna figure skate and show the online teams who's boss!

DanHibiki 11-09-2011 04:11 PM

I need to rant.

NHL 12 is probably the least improvement from a previous NHL title base on the next-gen series (07 and up).

07 was a big leap in controls and graphics but the game was terrible. 08 was a HUGE improvement and blew us all away and every year after that we saw steady improvements. Some minor, but necessary.

At first NHL 12 seemed pretty good. But it turns out it was just a matter of time before all the things I hated sinked in.

1) the hipcheck was overpowered. They tried patching it but it still sucks. It may not be OP but the checking animations on it r crap now.

2) the hitting physics engine is worse than last year. Anyone notice the most common way of getting hit is when the guy looks like his legs get taken out from under him despite getting hit high and from the front? It makes no sense.

3) Glitches. Damn, at first I thought gone were the days where the AI d-men get undressed so damn easily but nope, those pros have found other ways to walk around with super ease.

And ofcourse dem glitch goals.

4)Unrealistic puck-control and figure skating. You can go full speed chasing a puck in the corner, grab the puck and do an immediate 360 and go the other way without loss of speed. Like come on. It's frustrating going in for a 50/50 chase for a puck along the boards only to have him get that tiny step ahead, touch the puck, and have his player's body invert to the opposite side and skate away with it.

And figure skating with the puck. Twist and turning all over the place, holding down B and spinning in circles with the puck glued to you. EA claimed to have fixed such things in the past. To them it was just something minor that can be fixed with some simple tweaks when in reality it requires a full out overhaul of the engine.

I enjoyed every year's improvement off the last except this year's. I feel like they've reached the pinnacle of what their engine offers and need to do some big remodeling. Of course I know this won't happen which saddens me.

I'll still be playing the game but with frustration.

My only hope is that 2k is working on something big to get back into the NHL gaming market.

BlackZRoadster 11-09-2011 04:31 PM

^ after they fixed it, i noticed hip checks are alot harder to do.

plus the game always freezing right after i score or right before the game ends. had that happen probably 10 games out of 100 ?

Can't put it better than that Dan.

This game is certainly frustrating when the discrepancy between skills put the game into un-playable mode. It becomes too easy for the elites and too discouraging for the amateurs.

The RS team is full of hard working players committed to D. But when you have a figure skater with full 99 speed and 99 wrist accuracy/power, and does the same wrister shot that goes in on every goalie, its highly discouraging. There is no chance to beat these guys.

AND, the dive/goalie glitch. I hate it when ppl use it but I've become accustomed to using it against the elite teams because its just so hard to score a goal..

I dunno.. I have a love & hate relationship with this game. I play because I grew up playing this series. Perhaps it may be time to move on next yr

Edit: if we're playing elite teams.. we should play like the Flyers.. just hold back until they forecheck!

DanHibiki 11-09-2011 06:19 PM

^yup. it comes down to the best defence to never try to go after a player when they are in the corner. they'll just circle around you. only thing u can do is have everyone create a box around the net area and never commit to the players until they come in for a shot.

And I would love to move on next year but there's no other hockey game to move on to.

pure.life 11-09-2011 08:08 PM

This seems like a good play

I'm gonna try and pull this off with Nassy tonight

pure.life 11-10-2011 01:01 AM

I'm already at a thin line with the figure skaters that have Stamkos like skills..
for them to play keep away when leading 4-1 puts me in burst mode.. rage quit

Jmac 11-10-2011 09:45 AM

I scored shortly after you left ... Huge one-time blast assisted by nassy. I think we ended up losing 5-2

sorry for leaving you guys out to dry last night. On most days, I'd stay but I was pretty pissed last night. Plus I wasn't playing well.

Are you close to levelling? If you are, then I'll hit up goalie and let you and nassy get pts

lilaznviper 11-11-2011 02:44 PM

anyone else having problems playing nhl 12 on xbox. After I applied an update to play forza, my xbox freezes half way into my game.

Bonjour43MA 11-13-2011 01:12 AM

I said it when the game first came out and I'll say it again after 150 online games - THIS GAME SUCKS ASS.

There's no competition on the market right now so EA puts out garbage like this game and suckers like me still buy it even though it sucks like shit.

Hoping to move on to something better next year (c'mon 2K)

invader 11-19-2011 03:45 PM

What is the team rating bonus that shows after the end of an online match?

Jmac 11-20-2011 07:46 AM

How good your team is in relation to the opposing team.

If you have a better team, it will be negative; vice versa if they have a better team.

This game is not the best...but it's not bad.. imo.

But you would really play NHL 2K over EA nhl series?

to me it'll always be EA > 2K sports when it comes to hockey.

but 2k sports win in nba series..

edit: i had to youtube nhl2k10 just to remind how it was..

pure.life 11-21-2011 02:07 PM

LOL. 2K hockey is like NHL 94. Movements are so lego like.
Anyway, I've had enough of the NHL series and I'm not gonna play until the holiday rolls around.

Maybe by then there will be a better tuner

Franjo 11-24-2011 12:54 PM

I was a big 2k hockey fan back in the day, haven't played on in while so I thought i'd see what they look like, last one I did was 2K8.

The videos are pretty dope....

2KHockey.net Forums -> Why is 2K10 still THE BEST hockey SIM on market?

I gotta say, puck shadow has to be turned off. Having it on annoys me

You can update the rosters on 2k games as well, both on 360 and ps3. Hell I skipped buying NHL12 this year, I may pickup 2k10 and find some good sliders on that board. The game is probably like 5 bucks now lol

I gotta say this video is crazy:
!

411ken 11-24-2011 02:32 PM

I would still prefer ea for hockey and 2k for nba... to me, I hope they make the goalies harder to score on.. i.e try to minimize that 1 time crap which usually goes in.

Getting a good game going online is still awesome though... played this dude "sim" style so we played real style hockey...(dump the puck when on the pk... no 1 timer all the time, etc..),. I scored and ended up winning 1-0 as I played predators style hockey after lol...

After the game, he msged me and said.. "1 hell of a game.."

DanHibiki 11-24-2011 05:29 PM

This is the usual experience for online versus games in NHL.

This is what the opponent does:

Intro Playing: doesn't skip

During cut scenes: doesn't skip

intermission: doesn't skip

when they score a goal: doesn't skip

when you score a goal: SKIP SKIP SKIP SKIP OMFG WHY IS HE WATCHING HIS STUPID GOAL SKIP SKIP FUCK SKIP!!!!!!
