feels very robotic and unatural when youre fighting would be the best way to explain it
When I play these types of games I'm always some sort of warrior class mainly fighting with weapons.
The other issue also is the way the characters and even horses move, especially on uphill or downhill terrain, it's just horrible.... these are things that you do for most of the game, fight and walk around so pretty big deal

Actually a very good article on Kotaku linked here, 10 Things I Hate About Skyrim pretty much nails some of my complaints

It's a game. I don't know any other RPG's that wield swords "realistically". I play in first person so I can't really comment on how things move.

Did you enjoy GTA? Did you complain about how unrealistic that game was too?

I'm not saying the games perfect, it definitely needs a little more depth. But for what it is, it's pretty good IMO.

And the link you posted, the guy whines about horses not being able to walk backwards, the graphics, character creation, game bugs, 80 hour gameplay, etc.

First off, it doesn't take an hour to create a character if you're not a retard. Graphics on most top tier games aren't any more realistic. Who cares if the horse doesnt walk backwards. I haven't encountered many bugs in the game. 80 hours gameplay is better than 5 hours of gameplay. Look at WoW, COD, BF, etc. I'm sure most people sink more than 80 hours into those games.

bloodmack 12-05-2011 01:14 AM

^i agree with most things said. but one of the commenters on the link posted got it pretty damn right "THE COMBAT IN SKYRIM IS TERRIBLE! I MEAN HOW THE HELL CAN CRITICS AND OTHER GAMERS NOT EVEN MENTION THIS? IT'S AS IF THE GAME GETS A FREE PASS WHEN THE ACTUAL GAMEPLAY IS SO DAMN BORING, BROKEN, AND HASN'T CHANGED SINCE MORROWIND.."

I enjoy skyrim but I cannot play it for more then a couple hours because it really does it get boring and reptitive. It happens with all open world games.. too much envrionment and not enough unique things to do in it. I honestly have more fun killing hookers in GTA 3 then I do playing GTA 4 :P

G-spec 12-05-2011 12:28 PM

yea the guy is definitely nagging about most of things there but he has a good point about some of it, the hair does look terrible, lol, but who cares always wear helmet anyway... but combat is the real issue

and the game is something i wanna get into, but like bloodmack quoted, combat hasn't changed since Morrowmind, still basically the exact same... and i just cant get into it because it is so....... "basic" i think that's the word to describe it best, it is so very basic, it could be soooo much more than what it is, especially considering how much work they put into it and they totally neglected one of the most important parts of the game.... Players wanna feel like they actually beat the shit outta that dude skilfully when you connect a solid hit, you want it to feel like landing a perfectly timed uppercut in street fighter, but instead it just feels like you pressed some buttons in no particular order good ole hack n slash style...

I think the closest game in this genre that gives you this type of satisfaction when in combat would have to be the new Batman games, I played a few minutes of Arkham city and combat felt pretty damn good, not perfect, but pretty good

neggo 12-05-2011 05:58 PM

Guys, stop stressing. He's just mad because he took an arrow in the knee.

SkinnyPupp 12-05-2011 05:59 PM

To those complaining about the combat, remember it's an RPG, not an action game. Go play Batman or Ass Creed if you want good combat :D

Heh heh that`s my guilty pleasure too in GTA. We`re like GTA Robert Pickton`s.

i think demons souls and dark souls has great melee combat.
the system is not as chaotic as elderscrolls games where at later levels you can rely on hack and slash. im level 46 and use a warhammer and i just run up to every guy and smash them into the ground.
blocking? :fuckthatshit:

bloodmack 12-06-2011 04:15 PM

yeah i try to be a 1h mace user with destruction magic in the other hand.. doesn't work as well as i hoped :P

bobola 12-06-2011 10:28 PM

I think the game gets wayyy too easy when you start to reach higher level...

fs604 12-06-2011 10:36 PM

increase the difficulty lvl then :suspicious:

SkinnyPupp 12-07-2011 05:20 AM

If Master is still too easy (it is for me still, just about everyone but Ancient Dragons are no problem) use the command "player.advlevel" a few times. This will increase the level (and enemy levels) but not give you any extra perks or stats.

try leveling your other skills. If you use weapons, pick up magic and vice versa. Makes things a lot harder

fs604 12-07-2011 01:49 PM

If you want a real challenge, use magic only in master. I actually have to fight 'skillfully' now lol.

Fought 3 dragons at the same time. ... had to lead them to a small village so other people would be a distraction.

bloodmack 12-07-2011 11:52 PM

I was about to fight a dragon but i quickly grabbed the dragon words and the dragon dissapeared on me and i completed the quest.. fuuuuu! no soul for me :(

unit 12-13-2011 06:57 PM

this game is unplayable now (ps3)
about 105-110 hours in, game freezes sometimes within 15 minutes of turning it on.

bloodmack 12-13-2011 08:21 PM

shiiit 105?? I can't find any motivation to play anymore I've played about 70 hours at least and now im bored as shit of it.. So many glitches I've encountered not worth it to me any more. Fun game tho, im not big on the Openworld RPG games but skyrim made it worth it (mostly the awesome dragons).

unit 12-15-2011 12:48 AM

i did most of the side quests and am prob only 5 hours from getting platinum
yeah, im not touching the game anymore until they patch the ps3 version.

ynot5o4 12-16-2011 01:30 PM

This game came around the worst time, the beginning of most of my exams haha

hypediss 12-16-2011 03:01 PM

anyone finished the quest at cidhna mine/markarth?

Spoiler!

anyone got a work around to this?

Hondaracer 12-16-2011 08:32 PM

Besides quest glitches that usually work themselves out the PC version has had little to complain about and it's never been patched
