I'm so tempted to build a completely new computer...

...but mine isn't even slow...and I don't play games on it anymore.

Its got 2 small fans on it, stock ones.

Currently idles at mid 50s Celsius.
At load its around high70s sometimes hitting 80.

Need to get a pic of system or something to show.

Need more details like what kinda card it is. Most likely you'll be able to replace it with a bigger heatsink with larger fans. Arctic cooling comes to mind.

Oops, I stepped out for awhile after that post and totally forgot to get a picture. Picture of layout and specs to follow.

First of all, are those temps normal for a 560Ti?

EDIT: Temps taken from BF3 1920x1080 on high settings.

!Nhan 02-22-2012 02:08 AM

not on mine at least. mine idles at roughly 39C and under load max it's hit is 68C or so.

this is with all high detail on SWTOR

TOS'd 02-22-2012 02:48 AM

gfx card temps: idle@mid50s, load@high70s/80
load based on BF3 fullscreen 1920x1080 High settings

gfx card: http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...es%20Family&sw

Lowest 2 fans that look like they are doing nothing were just extra ones lying around. Could possibly position them better.
And not sure if i should change the back exhaust fan to have it pull in air.
Also all wires are hidden, so they aren't blocking airflow.

My computer, paint ftw.

3klipze 02-22-2012 03:03 AM

^ clean for dust, reapply thermal paste.

Also, from the diagram, are you drawing air out of the heatsink on your GPU? I always installed mine to suck air into the heatsink of the GPU

The Twin Forsa does a much better job or cooling due to better heatsink and fans.

My computer, paint ftw.

Airflow in the case looks good. If you really want to drop those temps you'll need aftermarket since evga is simply based on the reference design.

I've never used an EVGA DS card myself, but if it does exhaust hot air into the case like MSI Twin Frozr's, your P280 is not the best chassis to use.

If you had a side panel vent and another vent between the HDD cage and the PSU, you could use your 2x 120's in those places to bring out all the hot air thats being trapped inside the case right now.

Best solution w/o cutting into your case is probably get a 120mm exhausting air out of the remaining 6 PCI slot covers.

EDIT: also, leave your top rear 120mm exhausting, you dont want to bring in hot air that's coming out of your GPU below. Change the H100 fans to INTAKE, but use fan filters for that.

!Nhan 02-22-2012 11:39 AM

dude I FUCKING LOVE THAT DRAWING LOL don't know why but it made me laugh haha

Do you guys thinking adding an exhaust fan to the side of a case would lower temps by a lot? this is out of a corsair 400R case

The stock fans on the gpu are sucking air into the card I believe.

Those look promising, but the xtreme plus II is $85+tax at ncix :O

Yea the case was probably not the best choice, but i wanted something pretty plain looking. I hate those crazy looking cases and I have no need for windows etc, as the tower sits under the desk and I never really look at it.

I'll try switching the top two fans with the rad and get them to draw air in instead of exhausting.

Also I'll try to take the bottom inside 120mm and move it to the 6 PCI slot covers and exhaust from there.

Will report back later, thanks so far!

TOS'd 02-22-2012 08:39 PM

After changing around the radiator and fans, as well as moving one of the lower fans to exhaust out the pci cover slots. The cpu was cooler but the gpu was hotter.

In conclusion, I put everything back to were it originally was. And I guess ill just bump up the fan speeds on idle etc. At 50 percent fan speed at idle its around 48ish, so like 6 degrees cooler.

Anyone else been putting off buying sleeved extensions like me?

Corsair Cooling Air Series A70 HIGH-PERFORMANCE DUAL-FAN CPU Cooler LGA1155 LGA1156 LGA1366 AM2 AM3 - Corsair - CAFA70

what you guys think of this cooleR? seems like a good deal and can go price match at mem express

Hondaracer 03-02-2012 04:29 PM

looks alot like the Noctua, yet the noctua is $50 more?

are noctua products that much better?

!Nhan 03-02-2012 06:33 PM

from the reviews listed on the ncix website the noctua is cooler than the corsair. but then you gotta keep in mind it's only that much cheaper cuz it's on sale lol normally it'd not THAT much of a difference.

I think I'm gonna go price match it tomorrow

!MiKrofT 03-02-2012 07:45 PM

Probably getting discontinued so big price drop. You're not overclocking. Almost anything aftermarket is fine and better than stock. PS. You'll need to take off the motherboard again haha. I assume you already knew that though.

Datsun 03-02-2012 09:59 PM

A70's not that good of a deal at $35. If you check out the prices on shopbot, you'll see the lowest is $32 and if you price match at ME (where its $60) you can beat that with an extra $7 off.

!Nhan 03-03-2012 03:26 AM

i don't need to take my mobo off! i have back panel access to it

won't that red lighting become an annoying glare next to your tri-monitor set-up after a while?

The red LEDs havea dimmer and on/off switch. I think im going to pick up a new 7970 to replace my xfire 6870's.
I need a new desk. I wish i had an ikea in kelowna :(

thing is loud at 2000rpm. think i'm gonna install resistors to lower it to 1600

Datsun 03-06-2012 01:27 AM

^^ Why dont you use a fan control software and set custom profiles?

EDIT: Gigabyte EasyTune 6 can do this

Not sure if this is a "good" deal or not. But this package is $109.99 Web only.
