On another note, should only be a couple more weeks til Booth returns. What do you guys think the 3/4 lines are going to look like?

I see the lines being

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Booth
Hansen-Hodgson-Raymond
Lapierre-Malholtra-Ebbet

thats if everyone is healthy

mako 12-27-2011 06:39 PM

I like the look of that 3rd line
Plenty of speed on the wing and a smart passer in the middle

Higgins is out with injury again. -staph infection that he had in his leg earlier this season may have infected his hand. A swollen hand. Poor guy needs antibiotics asap.

Higgins stays behind as Canucks start California road trip'

Believe it or not, if Bieksa had gone to the UFA market, he could've been signed for $6M+

I'd consider a $4.6M cap hit as a hometown discount.

Still chokes me up that Ehrhoff wanted money rather than a cup. Sure he's an amazing offensive defenseman, but his holes in his defensive game is brutal. I'd take Bieksa over him any day.

Had burrows not been put on the sedins line, how much do u think he wouldve got in the open market?

Do an image search of staph infection. Go ahead! :)

I did just now, and man, it looks painful and very serious. Hopefully he recovers quickly, the guy works super hard and enjoys playing for his teammates and the city.

man. when you look at that, that is one good looking lineup! that 3rd line has so much potential. i could see booth and mayray being swapped around too with kes/mayrays chemistry and thats still a fantastic line up. either way, we've got 2 very solid secondary scoring lines with the ability to put up more than a couple goals each every night.

im actually pretty excited for our team moving forward if everyone stays healthy.

that's a pretty big if! i sure hope it happens though, especially come June ;)

saiko 12-27-2011 10:08 PM

The Canucks need more grit, imo.

b0unce. [?] 12-27-2011 11:10 PM

Letting Edler go will be a huge mistake. I'm sure everyone in the organization will realize that. He's in his prime and will only become better as time passes.

As for the grit/size factor. I'd like to see Raymond exchanged for some size. It's frustrating at the same time knowing that keeping Raymond might be the better option at the moment. At the same time, it's hard to find someone reasonably cheap and can do the more than Raymond currently.

We're so tight on cap, unless we move a guy like a Lu or Ballard, there's not much room to work with. Overall the team, i'm pretty happy with offence and defence, we've got a lot of depth :D
I guess you can never have a "perfect team" :okay:
As far as forwards goes, our 3 biggest players are Kes, Higgins and Coho? (I think)

shawn79 12-27-2011 11:14 PM

A reason to resign edler, he was suppose to be drafted by the red wings :lol

jeedee 12-27-2011 11:45 PM

I don't think the issue is whether GMMG will resign Edler or not

Biggest issue is whether or not Edler wants to stay and take a hometown discount

Coho isn't that big, he's listed at 6'0 185lbs

Top 3 according to what's listed at least are

Manny - 6'2, 220
Lappy - 6'2, 207
Kes - 6'2, 202

spoon.ek9 12-28-2011 12:20 AM

when i read swollen hand for Higgins, i thought of:

i'm not sure about lappy, but manny is ripped. i'm not sure if your comment was inferring that these two are out of shape compared to coho or not..?

woob 12-28-2011 11:12 AM

^ Yeah I was gonna say that too. Manny is ripped:

I assume when people are talking about toughness and grit,
we're talking about players that will drop the gloves and win fights, lay out momentum changing bodychecks,
and not stand around when a teammate gets knocked around, etc.

Size does help... but the players need the mentality or "skill" too.
