I assume its because everyone complains about it. I personally think it works pretty well, I like the fact it says Thanked/Failed XXX times in XXXX amount of posts. It gives perspective on the user.
I would respect someone alot more if he has lets say 50 fails from 1 post instead of 50 fails in 25 posts. I means he fucked up once instead of 25 times, even though that was a big fuck up to gain 50 fails...
If you have to change something. May I suggest changing the cap to 10 fails per post. So the max you can get is 10 "more" fails from 1 post...
...again its for people who CARES dearly about their fail count

personally I'm not against having a FAIL button. Fails need to be awarded where it's due. But it's being overused.

How about having a system where it is a user option. You can fail people and be failed
or
turn it off and can't fail people and can't be failed.

Keep the fail button, raise the minimum post count to 300, try to provide a reason for each fail that you give, unless the person was asking for it, such as posting a video of a 13 year old girl on a unicycle in a pikachu suit.

did mods just raise from 100 - 300? gay!!! Now i will never be able to fail, i dont even got 300 posts on another forum that ive been on since 2008. Doesnt mean I'm not active on the forum or anthing, i'm always on the computer.

I'm totally against the fail button, but i know it wont be removed, and it will always be overused/abused whatever. it's retarded. i've only ever given out fails when they were actual fails. like you fucking facepalm in real life, thats how fail it was.
i dont see any other way right now. if you make it for every thanks you give, you can give a fail, then everyone's going to spam both.
if you make it a certain number of posts, some people that barely post, wont ever get the ability enabled, or people will just start spamming retarded one word replies.
the thank button should be the same way, i think, if you wish to disable your thanks, then you cant give any or receive as well.
or yeah, the other suggestion seems pretty smooth, just disable it everywhere except NSFW, fightclub, and OT.
i distinctly remember a while back, people voting on some kinda "rep" system like other forums, and then I REMEMBER CLEARLY, one of the admins/mods saying that shit is not good cuz it's inaccurate and doesnt represent the truth... well... doesnt this seem like the exact fucking same thing? lol. just sayin. I see no objective to the fail button.

There's no consistency in fail button use either. I've seen posts where someone posted info and was failed for it. Later on, when someone else posts pretty much the same info, they get thanked for it.... but the same people who failed the other post...
