Guys real talk, the best socks to wear in the winter are Merino Wool socks. 25-30 bucks a pair. I like Icebreaker socks. Who cares? My feet fucking do. They feel like clouds on your feet. You can wear them 3 days in a row hiking 8 hours a day and they never smell. Ask me how I know.
We've been having biblical level rain over the past 3 or so days, breaking monthly records going back decades even though it's only the 5th. City shut down this morning, so my wife got to stay home.. but then the monkey paw curled
We live in the top level of a 3 storey village house, so we get the roof.. Occasionally the gutter will get clogged with leaves, and during storms I have to keep them clear to keep things flowing. I told the story before of running out during a hurricane to unclog them, as neighbours watched through their window
Well they got just clogged overnight, and the rain was heavier than it's been in decades, so the water got deep enough to come in through the rooftop door, and we had a waterfall flowing through our stairwell. Fun times! We were able to manage to avoid a complete catastrophe though. Just a big mess
I said during that bad storm 5 (or so) years ago, that there is no worse feeling than having your shelter feel inadequate to deal with the weather. We were inconvenienced, but were able to clean up today. A lot of people have it much worse, and my heart goes out to them. It's an awful awful feeling.
Well it's also crazy few (many yrs back) stores had all their stock floating down the streets due to floods. Hope you're staying safe and your watch parts don't get wet!
My workshop stayed dry.. My office had some water in it and I have no idea where it came from... guessing it blew in through the AC vent. Hopefully that's it!
I have a friend who had a pipe burst in her apartment, and it got completely flooded. That was insane to see. Many people have tile floors at least, so the water can be pushed to a drain in the bathroom or kitchen. My first apartment had really nice wood floors, and they would have been destroyed!
I think SCMP was paywalled for a while now. I used to read it quite regularly but like you said, the editorial section is garbage, and there are a lot of articles that have a strong pro-CCP/China slant to it.
SCMP has become a very pro-China publication for some time now. Even before its ownership under the Alibaba Group, it had a chief editor that came from a CCP advisory body (政協), and that was sort of when the pro CCP slant became much stronger.

meh, We're all old as fuck so sounding like a broken record is basically a right at this age. There's also less than 50 active members that actually post regularly so RS is basically a glorified whatsapp group at this point lol
Oh, speaking of old, I was out yesterday and the washroom was full of geriatrics on canes, suspenders, broken hips and what not. There was a lineup, and while waiting in line, some old jerk bag walks right up to a guy's urinal, body checks him, and starts taking a whiz. Like, WTF? He leaves and doesn't even wash his hands!
