Angel's Landing was crazy scary, but if you don't psych yourself out and look down you're mostly fine. Just look at the footholds, look at the footholds...
Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef all fantastic parks. Also got famous Monument Valley. Was also lucky enough to win the lottery for a chance to see The Wave. When I did I dropped everything and flew to Utah the next month. |

I spent a bunch of time in SLC for work, it's a pretty shit place. The most memorable things from there were that it has the worlds largest Costco, which sells almost no alcohol unlike every other US Costco I've been to, and while browsing Marketplace I saw a add for a 3 level, king size bunk bed. If you need one of those you have too many damn kids.

I made the mistake of going to Hooters in SLC once many years ago, got to eat cold wings and listen to the 35+ year old waitress with no tits and cigarette breath complain to us about her deadbeat husband leaving her with 3 kids to look after.
I seem to recall the downtown having a cool comic book store though.

Anyone seeing a slowdown in the economy? I see all the doom & gloom in business news with amazon and UPS layoffs which is concerning as christmas is their busiest quarter.
We're pretty sheltered in Vancouver with all the foreign money, I see restaurants still packed, desirable real estate still selling close to asking, airport still packed with people traveling etc. However, I do notice more court-ordered listings and multiple mercedes dealers have new G63 AMG in stock.

Le wifey's work has a retail element to it, and she is definitely noticing sales slowing down. She suspects customers are either withholding / delaying purchases, or are choosing more affordable options instead of getting the normal thing they'd get.
I am not the least bit surprised bcos we doing the same ourselves. We are eating far less frequently at restaurants, and we are going to food courts instead of proper sit down places.

A few people I know are trying to scrape together as much savings as possible trying to close their pre sale that's nearing completion. They are in the fucked if they do, fucked if they don't spot right now.
My sphere of influence is significantly more Chinese biased, and I am seeing restaurants aren't being as busy, and the cheaper options getting busier.
Cars sales haven't completely tanked, but it seems to be significantly lower across most segments. The only car that really still has a significant wait is the Sienna and maybe Rav4 PHEV, but the dealers are working through their waitlists. Quote:

fortunately we're still busy but not as busy as other years where there are mountains of jobs in the queue. some competitors are apparently not even open every day because no work.
developers are slow, renovations guys are slow, homeowners are not doing as many projects, etc..

I'll know the world is ending if I go into a beetle dealer and can order a GT3 with no purchase history.

Yes, there are restaurants and businesses doing well enough for you to notice, but there are many more that are not, and you wouldn't realize it until they're gone.
