I mostly only use my sunglass when I'm driving and when I'm outdoors. And usually when I'm outdoors, I don't really need to read / look at stuff that is up close.

So unless you have a need to look at stuff that is close by while you are outdoors (and thus requiring sunglasses), you can probably get by with just getting the regular single vision lenses for you sunglasses to look at stuff at a distance, and that will be waaaay cheaper than getting progressives.

This. My optometrist said I couldn't wear single vision for my sunglasses b/c my brain/eyes will be used to the progressives so I'd likely get the same headaches I got when I first switched to progressives. I tried wearing my old progressive sunglasses when I got my 2nd progressives and they really fucked me up after an hour even though the change was really minimal (I think it was an extra -.25 on one eye and a slight adjustment for astigmatism)

Probably why we don’t drive like we used to. I find myself driving slower and slower.

My prescription is very low but my first pair of glasses changed my whole world at night lol. Especially when driving and seeing how clear things were in the distance! I'm the opposite of most of you though, things in the distance are blurry for me. Up close, I see just fine. It confuses my coworkers when they see me take my glasses off to work at my computer.

side note: it's nice to hear some of you are significantly older than me

Hmm... this thought has never crossed my mind bcos I couldn't get used to my progressive lenses. I've never had any problems switching between different pairs of single vision glasses, regardless of whether they had similar (but different) prescriptions, or whether they are significantly different like my reading / computer work glasses vs my "regular" glasses or sunglasses.

This is why progressive lenses suck LOL~!
(And also why getting old sucks lol~)

I attended the LAFC game with my wife. It was the best sporting event at BC Place in many years and even my wife, who's not a big football fan, had a great time.

Thomas Muller has been the best professional athlete signing of any major Vancouver sports team in decades. He has truly embraced the city and being part of the team.

Copa90 did a great feature on the history of the Whitecaps and their impact on the city. Definitely worth a watch for anyone who calls Vancouver home, even if you're not a soccer fan: https://youtu.be/A6Hnk37Lwo8?si=9f07FwYXqgv89JT1
I remember the Whitecaps winning the NASL Championship against Tampa Bay Rowdies. During the series Vancouver was dubbed, "The Abandoned Village." by some American announcer from New York.

I first noticed that my vision was degrading about... a long time ago... when I was throwing a football around with my brother. As soon as the sun started to get low, I lost the ability to track the ball and had trouble making catches.

So if I had to do that, or something else crucial, then yeah I'd get glasses. For walking around, I am fine with things being a bit blurry from far away. I did need to get readers for close work though.

Yeah, generally I don't need my glasses. It just personally bothers me when I can't distinguish people's faces in the distance or when I can't read street signs in unfamiliar neighbourhoods. If I'm familiar with the area I'm in, I don't need my glasses to drive

He had a ranch in Montana and had worked several C-suite jobs at multi-billion dollar companies so spending $100 on a bottle of wine on a weeknight was just a regular day for him.
I enjoy $30-40 bottles but tbh, knowing about wine is just having some basics about regions and their flavors, good/bad years, and what you'd order off a reasonable wine list at a spot.

Car guy equivalent is like E90 (good) vs F30 (bad), whether a M340i / M3 / 911 level wines is appropriate for the dinner, whether u want something dryer or with more minerality (Italian/French), or lighter

a part of me looked forward to wearing glasses.. something that only someone who never had to wear them to actually see could understand.
will definitely take everyones advice and not wear them unless i actually have to to function. slightly blurry signs from a distance is not a big deal.

Re glasses

One suggestion I have is go with quality glasses. I see a lot of people shelling out big bucks for their frame while putting cheap optics in their glasses.

I was once a firm believer of whatever cheap is whatever works. Then I got my glasses done in Taiwan from a f&f-owned store and got some fancy Zeiss optics and man... not only was it clearer overall for my vision, but also so easy to keep it clean and more scratch resistant because of their hard coating.

Used to get a pair of glasses every year, now is a pair every 3-4 assuming prescription stays the same.

100% agreed on higher quality lens. I made the switch to Zeiss and it was a night and day difference. Optically it's far more clearer and easier to clean.

My next set of frames are coming from Costco.

It'll be fine~ A friend of mine tracked his RC or LC, and the car mostly held up. The car did throw a CEL near the end of the day, and my friend suspected the engine was starting to overheat, so the ECU just threw a CEL and went into self-perservation mode. I think the CEL eventually went away on its own too.

Purely a coincidence, but I noticed a lot of cringey posts on my LinkedIn feed lately and happened to come across this YouTube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSM...sPSqwWWbgMGFOg

(Disclaimer: I am not the author/creator.) A lot of material in his videos are examples I can relate to. Good, fun entertainment for a good laugh but please don't take it literally.

My goal is to pick up an RC and drive the living hell out of it on the track, redline and all, using 0W20 oil.
