bcrdukes: "that's racist, class profiling, anti-druggie" | Did not know if there was social housing in and around the area.
I'm more conservative than you think. Think right-wing extremist. (This is a joke, don't take it seriously)

F/up to our discussion about saving for retirement in the real estate thread. Another article laying out how much/little you need for retirement.
tl;dr: $750k is what you'd need to retire at 60, if you retire at 65 then $500k should be sufficient if your home is paid off and you're living a modest lifestyle. | One thing that I don't think the math accounts for is inflation over the 20 yrs (or more) of your retirement. I'd say add $250-500K to be safe.
With inflation as it has been in the past 5-10 yrs, $40-50K won't be a lot in 5-10 yrs time, let alone the rest of your retirement yrs.

750k is way more than enough money to rot for 20 years in GVRD
Or make that 750k into "7.5 million" by moving to asia, and you will probably still die with half of that in your pocket
(Including 100 hookers at once on tuesdays)

Uhh.. 40 to 50k a year to spend? A new roof or a replacement car could sink your budget for years. And then, the kids are also going to want help with their first house, weddings, and grand kids that need dental work. AI will have put them all out of work, so they will be foreclosed and then I will need to buy a larger house to fit them!
Also, there's no way CPP and OAP is going to cover us until we're 80 or some BS like that. It's only going to go up and up as we get older.

- $40K Civic
- $250K Down payment for 2 kids
- $100K Wedding for 2 kids
- $10K dental work for 4 grand kids
You planning to save an extra $430K before the bigger house?
how long does it take y'all to save $430K without considering capital gains from current investments. I always found out funny when friends spoke as if it was mandatory to cover the above + private school for their future kids at 28 years old. Or else they're not having it. I guess your income is 2-3x in your 30s/40s

Should be in sci-fi movies. Kind of reminds me of the Thunderbirds television series. The ones with the marionettes, lol.
Obviously fake, but cool nonetheless.

I can't find the vacation thread or w/e... but I'll be on a trip (for business) to Seoul for two weeks - are there any must go's that I have to visit? I don't really care for kpop or celebrities, skincare, cute cafes, temples or the other generic Korean things. I doubt there's car stuff there, maybe unless Hyundai N has something cool.

Gyeongbokgung Palace
(while you're here you can see the statues of of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, which is my personal fave, and King Sejong the Great). Visiting the palace during the day is cool to check out. But seeing the Admiral's statue at night is better. https://maps.app.goo.gl/zzMiytXAd1a7Y6N68
Cheonggyecheon (just a few blocks from the palace/statue) https://maps.app.goo.gl/d15YR3bwjUyubW2QA
Seoul Tower - It's worth going to and going up https://maps.app.goo.gl/TiiLJcgxow5RtXW26
Seoul Forest Park https://maps.app.goo.gl/JKhX2rDQzfwntLkg8
War Memorial of Korea
(pretty amazing war memorial/museum. 100% worth checking out)
Just a few recommendations. Tons of shopping and foodie spots I like. I'm actually flying out Tuesday to Seoul for a few days, then onward to Tokyo.
