what do you hate most about Vancouver?

aside from high prices on pretty much everything...not much to complain about, vancouver styles on pretty much most cities in the world

Vancouver hasn't been around for hundreds/thousands of years like some places...

The weather here is great. The more I travel the more I appreciate our mild weather. Other cities have wild swings that we don't get. Plus, the rain keeps the temperature moderate.

As much as people complain about the prices here, I have to say that Vancouver has some of the most affordable and diverse food. We don't have the Red Lobsters or Outback Steakhouses - but our food is honestly a lot better than the crap those restaurants serve.

Ever been to Portland, Oregon? Or the Lower East Side in NYC? Portland has the highest concentration of trust-fund, microbrewery loving, single-speed bike riding hipsters in North America. The folks on Main Street don't even come within a whiff of Portlanders.

I've visited NYC, Paris, and London and though they each have their sore points, they all are truly world-class cities. Marco speaks from a different perspective because he's from the top 5% of earners who have the ability to enjoy most of what each city has to offer. For the average resident of those cities, life is very much a struggle as it is to the average Vancouverite.

As much as people complain about the prices here, I have to say that Vancouver has some of the most affordable and diverse food. We don't have the Red Lobsters or Outback Steakhouses - but our food is honestly a lot better than the crap those restaurants serve.

I was at a Red Lobster last month and it came nowhere close to the hype. If you look over-salted, over-buttered food, I suppose it's for you, but for me who's used to more creative cuisine, no thanks. Our local chains like Cactus and Joey even do a better job on their food than American chains.

I got failed for saying this a while ago, but based on the complaints here, it seems that a city like Hong Kong comes closest to utopia for the average RS user.
- Great public transit
- Low taxes
- Cheap and delicious food
- Nightlife options are good - Shenzhen and Macau are only an hour away
- Career opportunities if you work hard

The only thing that sucks about the place is the humidity.

I've actually traveled quite a bit around - around most of Europe... - and compared to most places around North America and Europe - our food is actually quite cheap. Obviously, you can't compare it to countries in Asia, etc...

I'm only mentioning Chain Restaurants because there were guys on here that complained that we don't have them here.

One of the things I HATE about Everytown, USA is the lack of personality each town has because it is ALL big box stores and chain restaurants. The lack of boutique stores and non-chain restaurants is saddening.

Taxes are expensive. We get dinged when we earn money, then get dinged when we spend it again.
Gas is expensive.
Everything is expensive.
Homeless people. I just don't like them, no offense to you if you are homeless.
Traffic is stupid during rush hour.
Mayor McChicken is a joke with his riot, chicken coops, wheat fields, and bike lanes.
Construction on city streets takes forever. Am I the only one that thinks they are doing it backwards much of the time? Put it in, rip it out, put it in, rip it out, put it in again...
