its kinda sad how the job industry has changed for students and kids looking for a job the first time. I stopped by KFC for dinner last night and looking into the restaurant through the drive through there were only older women and no kids at all.
10 years ago it would be nothing but kids and I just think it's sad a lot of these fast food restaurants are only hiring adults now.

Aberdeen retail stores are always hiring. Only requirement is that you need to speak either cantonese or mandarin. They hire a lot of people with no prior experience, so it's not a bad place to start at. It was my first retail job while I was in 2nd year university (I did have 2+ yrs of experience working in the restaurant industry), and it's a really chill place to work. About 40-50% of the stores are owned and operated by the owner of Aberdeen, so even if the particular store you dropped off your resume at isn't hiring, they might forward it to one that is. I applied to Giordano (did so via fax), but got interviewed and hired at Impulse Sports because they had an opening and I had a background w/ sports teams in highschool.
Forever 21 is always hiring during the summer as well, I worked there for a few months. Not a bad place to work if you intend on staying for a while (they do periodic reviews and like to promote within). http://leapforceathome.com/
Leapforce is an online job I worked ~1ish years for. You work as a search engine evaluator. It's one of the few legit online jobs that I know of, no fees, credit cards or any kind of payment (do a google search to learn more about it). It's not by referral or anything so don't worry about pyramid schemes, only catch to it is that you have to study this 100+ page document and pass 2 tests before they hire you. The studying and testing take probably a good 20-40+ hours.
This job was a life saver for me when my part time retail jobs weren't giving me the hours I wanted. You can work at ANY time (given there are tasks to do), and you simply clock the time you work (by the minute). Pay is also very good (I can't disclose because of a NDA, but let's just say they pay by the minute, and it works out to be > minimum hourly wage). I have a friend who milked the crap out of this job and was able to save up a lot.
Only bad thing about it is that it doesn't really help in terms of resume and such. Because of the NDA you can't disclose much about the job.
It is completely legit and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me about it.
Edit: Here's some good information regarding the job http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...8164743AAzS2Iw

10 years ago it would be nothing but kids and I just think it's sad a lot of these fast food restaurants are only hiring adults now. | It can be due to moron franchise owners as well. I remember when I was 17 or something and I applied for part time work at a Subway, and the owner said I have to be 19 or over. I remember just bursting out with a chuckle in disbelief. He said they need someone qualified. Sure, bud. Call your "sandwich artists" whatever you want.
It's quite counter intuitive if you think about it.. They want "qualified workers" that are over 19.. But people in that category aren't going to be exactly racing for a job at Subway.. They're all going for the restaurant/warehouse jobs that pay ~$15+..
All the older males who are job hunting would likely resort to labour jobs like construction, painting, gardening, whatever.
So that leaves all the old ladies in the fast food restaurants..

Oddly, whenever I see middle-aged men/women working in fast-food joints, I feel bad for them. I'm not one to look down on another human being, but sometimes I really wonder if they're working there out of desperation & actually making minimum wage
On a different note, working at Milestones is one of the most physically-demanding jobs I've had to date. GREAT employees though; the friendliest & most caring people you'll ever work with.
School from 8am to 3pm, work at 5pm to 1am, sleep from 2am to 7am, repeat social life dundeez

You believe they should be treated better than this. Holy crap, your hours. I would collapse sacrificing that amount of sleep.

^Graveyard manager at my mcdonalds does that..works 10pm-6am, then goes to work at Tim Hortons right across from us later in the day. He even had to work with a partially healed broken leg from being hit by a car. I applaud them, yet feel sorry.
Hey pinn3r, my friend did that at Wings, wasn't long before he quit due to the schedule, but with summer coming you should be holding on to it right?

LP700-4, just apply. You'll never know if they are interested in you unless you apply. Plus, you have nothing to lose, well, kinda, a couple sheets of paper or a dozen minutes of your life....

For the PNE interview, you must choose 3 jobs and I don't know which 3 to pick out of the list of many. |
