Ive applied probably 25-30 places with only 1 interview which resulted in the classic "We are thankful blahblahblah you suck" letter. I have found it impossible to get any normal teen job around this place unless you have a connection. Now I've widened my search to anything that is hiring. I go around the mall with resumes sometimes but the manager will always say that they don't take applications at stores. So I go to the website and I'm sure the automated screening part of it pretty much eliminates my application as I have no previous work experience. Any suggestions?

Well what I've been doing is polishing up my interview skills. When I get an opportunity then I can seize it. It's hard out there most jobs want experienced people so they get their moneys worth instead of hiring a dumb teenager.

I am by no means a dumb teenager. The interview I happened to go to was a group interview. I was the only one who showed up in any kind of formal attire. While everyone was on their phones I was reading my resume and cover letter over and preparing myself for the interview. I was the only one at the start and end of the interview to shake the interviewers' hands. I get the letter saying they are moving forward in the process and I go there a few weeks later seeing a kid that showed up to the interview in ripped jeans who could barely put a sentence together behind the counter. It's pretty frustrating, but in no way am I going after your comment. It just is tough to accept that my best can't get me a minimum wage job.

A lot of people don't realize that people skills/a smile are also extremely important. You're all so focused on credentials and such that you fail to recognize what truly catches the employers' attention.
If I were ever a hiring manager, there aren't enough fucks in this world for me to give about how great you are. If you're a boring fucker, get outta here. You gotta get them to buy into you before they consider you. Make a lasting impression so they'll look back at your application and go like, "hey, I remember this guy"
Now i'm not saying the credentials aren't important; they still are. They're just not everything.

Work in the kitchen of a sit-down restaurant. Red Robins, Boston Pizza, Cactus, Earls etc etc..
I started out as a dishwasher when I first turned 16. Moved up to a Line cook. Then did deliveries & eventually made my way to the front as a Host. There are a lot of opportunities for experience in these places. People skills, team work, working under pressure..blah blah that could land you better jobs in the future.

If anyone wants a job at a sushi restaurant making sushi pm me. You don't need experience all you need is to be hard working. I just quit there because I couldn't handle the pressure and my supervisor hated me vice versa.

what ever happened to working at mcdonalds/kfc/burger king. Flipping burgers, mopping floors and moving on up. Mcdonalds - best training ever ( teamwork, client service, attention to detail, humbleness, are a few things I learned)

In addition to what you listed out, I also shuttle customers around, get/store wheels&tires, drop off/pick up customers cars, etc.
