I got the 24" Samsung SyncMaster B2430. Samsung has the best picture quality in my opinion and this model also has HDMI. Got it at NCIX for roughly $180-200. I think it was on sale at the time though

NCIX.com - Buy Samsung B2430H 24IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 5ms 70000:1DC Black HDMI DVI VGA - Samsung - LS24PUHKFV/ZA - in Canada

You're kidding right? This is just a run of the mill TN panel compared to the IPS ones ppl are talking about in this thread.

Ronin 11-17-2011 11:55 PM

Please don't bring up any LCDs under $200. You're just making yourself look silly in this discussion.

I would suggest :
NCIX.com - Buy Samsung SyncMaster S24A850DW 24IN Widescreen LED Pls LCD Monitor 1920X1200 5ms 300CDM DVI DP Pivot - Samsung - LS24A850DW/ZA - in Canada

its a bit expensive, but is comparable to the dell monitor in viewing angles and colours. Investing in a dell ultra sharp is well worth your money in the long term, but if you're planning to spend a bit less and still get the same quality. I would suggest this.

(I had the monitor above for 2 months) Sold it because i didn't need such an expensive monitor as i don't do any graphic work

sorry double post **

Just watch for a good sale and don't buy it full pop whatever you decide - you should get a good idea of the mark you want to wait for with the below links and history of price on the displays. $329 was a pretty good price for the 2412.

twitchyzero 11-21-2011 09:51 PM

Ronin 11-22-2011 02:00 AM

Sheeeeeeeettt...

Can I call Dell to price match or anything?

ddr 11-22-2011 02:08 AM

the price is live now. call them up, their CS is not bad.

Ronin 11-22-2011 10:18 AM

Pricematched no problem. Didn't event have to hold.

Won't give me $279 if I buy another one on the spot. Hey, had to try.

ddr 11-22-2011 10:31 AM

haha i've heard of ppl getting a lower price this way. Someone on RFD, in the same situation as you, actually said they got refused a PM when they called. So good for you! Mine is on order as well.

Ronin 11-22-2011 11:26 AM

Mine arrives tomorrow!

Dell UltraSharp U2410 24 Widescreen LCD Monitor - $196 : Discount-storm.com

so i found this and was wondering if it's too good to be true.. do these guys sell refurbished electronics or something?

Ronin 04-16-2012 01:13 AM

Half of that site is broken for me...that's not a good sign.

asian_XL 04-16-2012 05:14 AM

U2410 is a better choice if you care about the colour and spec. Otherwise just get the 2412. I just purchased a U2412 to replaced my BenQ G2400W, it's day and night. I love it.

However, it would be a lot better if there's a "SOURCE" button, switching between PC and xbox360 need to click a lot of buttons

Cman333 04-16-2012 11:09 AM

How are IPS for gaming nowadays?

I've been leaning to get a new monitor.

Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24” IPS Monitor Review - Page 8

Quote:

Before we being let’s preface the results by saying the U2412M is not meant for professional gaming. With an 8ms response time, the Dell can certainly be used in this area but it exhibit an occasional dropped frame or “hiccup”. This is the nature of the IPS beast but it will rarely –if ever- be noticed by the end user. To our eyes there is very little difference but you may feel differently, and we strongly recommend trying one before buying as some people are more sensitive to this kind of issue than others.

For ultrasharp...2311 and 2312 both are fine for gaming...every manufacturer has a different way of measuring response time...so the 8ms actually has built-in overdrive. I dont know if it's the same for the 2410/2412/2711/3011..double check on TFT central.

BTW it's crazy how aggressively Dell's been discounting the 2312hm...it was a steal when the 2311 dropped to $240...now on RFD you can get its replacement for $180 after coupons

I am debating on a 2 24" setup or one big 27"

What do you guys prefer?
one designated for work and other for emails music browsing etc etc

I'd go with the 2 24". I have a 27" and I find that my productivity when working on one monitor isn't as great as when I have dual monitors. Even with the snap to screen functionality in W7, I still find it difficult to work with. Managing your windows is much easier for me with two monitors.

With the 27" (Im going to assume we are talking about the Dell U2711) .. many websites are not designed to support the large 2560 x 1440 anyways.

It's a matter of preference I guess.

ddr 04-17-2012 07:50 AM

flip a smaller 20"+ in vertical mode and browse on that. it's been the best thing done to my productivity if you need to browse a lot or scroll thru documents

PornMaster 04-17-2012 11:53 AM

So what is better overall for gaming movies surfing.
dell u2410 or u2412m
