Black Friday Purchases

Anyone planning on buying stuff?

There are a lot of sales already online for Black Friday...

Good place to check is here: Black Friday Ads - The Official Black Friday 2011 Website for Black Friday Deals!

I just bought a 60" Sharp AQUOS LCD TV for US$799 from US Bestbuy site.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sharp+-+...harp&cp=1&lp=1

Surprised they actually support accepting Canadian credit cards.

fliptuner 11-24-2011 08:54 AM

Did you just use a mail box service for a shipping address?

CRS 11-24-2011 08:56 AM

Wish Canada had nice stuff like this too....

murd0c 11-24-2011 09:17 AM

WOW talk about a good deal on that TV. Hopefully you ahve a vehicle big enough to pick it up with.

you have to use a US shipping address and as for your billing address they give you a specific US address you have to enter if you're an international buyer (guess its their HQor something in TX)

or you can choose to pick it up in store

!Yaminashi 11-24-2011 09:44 AM

If there was shipping available to Canada I'd go nuts

InvisibleSoul 11-24-2011 09:51 AM

Yeah... I couldn't get this TV delivered to Point Roberts, where I've always had my US stuff shipped too... so I sent this to Hagens for the first time in my life.

Wish the exchange rate was a little better, but oh well.

With WA tax, it ended up being US$867. With exchange rate, will probably end up about CA$925. Hopefully I get waived through when bringing it back... but if not, oh well.

twitchyzero 11-24-2011 09:55 AM

if i was in the market for a TV i would definitely have snatched the 42" for $200...

StylinRed 11-24-2011 10:00 AM

if youve got space in ur living room u guys could go DLP ad get say a 73" 3D tv fpr $699

apparently theres an issue with the older texas instrument chips though where the tv will die after 3-5 years (thats why the new ones are $1k+ more) but at that price who cares?

TVs TV & Video : mitsubishi - BestBuy

That one is going to be almost impossible to get because it's in-store only... and I'm sure people are going to line up overnight for it.

apparently those were open box ones and lower model

but yeah fantastic price if you have the space for it (and if you have a table under your LCD than you have the space for it :P)

the only real issue with them aside from the space is you have to replace the bulbs (about $100) ive still got a samsung dlp from yeaars ago replaced the bulb once PQ is great

fliptuner 11-24-2011 10:13 AM

Not super cheap but I might consider this for the bedroom:

Samsung - 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV - LN32D403

twitchyzero 11-24-2011 10:16 AM

^not sure if it's still available...but you can just sign on to be on some staples email list and get a $100 off TV coupon...their 32" Toshiba 60Hz ends up being $199...much easier without driving down and eating duties

oh didnt realize that

is there an easier way to shop amazon.com's lightening deals? Setting up RSS feed somehow instead of checking the website every few hours? I already used up my prime membership and didn't wanna renew unless i see something i want.
i am a noob and i dont know if that's part of their black friday promotions (i know gold box is offered each day)

StylinRed 11-24-2011 10:21 AM

they've got a separate black friday lightning deal going on from their usual lightning deal which is going on as well

http://www.amazon.com/Black-Friday-After-Thanksgiving-Sale/b/ref=gbbf11_launchstripe?ie=UTF8&node=384082011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=goldbox-ads2&pf_rd_r=0711S53Y986N61MVGN5E&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_p=1331527162&pf_rd_i=20
theres a window listing all the black friday lightning deals today

twitchyzero 11-24-2011 10:33 AM

they even got a % claimed bar...awesome

if only amazon.ca was half as good...i would be living tightly on paycheques

the best deal that i saw this side of the border was probably the lumix GF2 for $290 shipped on newegg.ca....couldn't justify it though as i dont shoot

What's so funny? Apple price fixes their products so 10% is actually quite good/decent.

Very rarely will you ever see a discount on Apple products. I've only seen a generous 10% discount on their products maybe twice in my lifetime.
