I just went to water st cafe last night, i'd cancel reservation if i were you.
fanny bay oysters were kinda mushy. The duck confit was deep fried, and the cheesecake was spongy.

Did the Dine-out at the Keg with a few buddies after class.

Service was terrible, but it's to be expected since alot of people are doing the Dine-outs.

The mashed-patatos were overly dry and quite bland, while my steak was rather tough to chew and over-cooked even though I had asked for a medium rare.

No need to post photos, but the food were all really mediocre. The Keg used to be really good, but IMO, their quality is sagging. :okay:

Food 6/10
Service 5/10

The Water Street Cafe is a tourist trap.

A couple posters, including myself have mentioned already. And BcrDukes just mentioned - water street is a tourist trap.

BaoTurbo - If you are taking your girlfriend, it will be the river that slowly washes up your relationship with her. :lol

How did it go? I am going this Friday and didn't realize that they are participating in dine out. I hope they still serve their regular menu.

Which french restaurant is reputable? Le bistro something? searched it up and it seemed decent. Saturday night for sure, cuz it's gonna replace water street

Durrann 02-02-2012 11:38 AM

anyone going to Goldfish for their dine out?

they are closing down and Feb 5th is their last day

shawnly1000 02-02-2012 12:46 PM

:( gonna miss the Happy Hour there

miss_crayon 02-02-2012 07:24 PM

We kept our resos at cork and fin and maybe I should thanks everyone for making it seem like crap cause I had super low expectations which in turn made it seem not as terrible. Food was average, service was a zero (waitress even stepped on my bag handle when she was pointing out that my bag had fell...was kinda pissed bout that) but not as bad as I imagined! LOL!!

Oysters were good..but then again how can you fuck up something like raw seafood?

Bistro Pastis, Pied a Terre, Cafe Crocodile, and Le Faux Bourgeois are my recommendations for French.

Abigails Party 8/10
Food was great but its reallly dark inside there. Seems like a nice neighbourhood type of place to go for drinks n food.

The mushroom soup on their DoV menu is really good, their apple crumble not so much.

westopher 02-04-2012 08:53 AM

abigails is one of my favourite places in Van. Amazing service, great food, and wicked vibe.
